What's the weather like in Guardalavaca in June
We are now breaking into the summer months, and you will really feel it in June.
Temperature
The average daily temperatures here soar to 27°C, and that is not all: on a daily basis, you could be looking at high temperatures that go up as high as 31°C regularly. When they drop, 23°C is the average low, so even the mildest of days will be hot and sunny when you stay here.
There are plenty of benefits to arriving for your holiday this month instead of waiting for the peak daylight hours of July: for one thing, you are likely to share the beach with fewer people, even if the difference might be a small one. It's also true that the temperatures remain steady across the two months, so there is nothing to be gained by delaying your trip. Although, July will have less rain.
Sunshine Hours
Guardalavaca sees beautiful, bright light days, with 10 hours of sunshine coming down for a long and hot daytime period.
Sea Temperature
This contributes magnificently to warming up the sea, which carries an average temperature of 29°C on most days. In fact, going for a swim will be a very enjoyable experience, without any risk of getting cold when you step into the waves.
Rainfall
The temperatures will not fluctuate too much day to day or hour to hour thanks to the steady climate, but you can still end up being caught out by the rain: a massive 165mm of rain will fall this month across 12 wet days, so if you take a two week holiday you are just about guaranteed a rainy day or two. When it comes down at this time of year, it really comes down. Luckily, it soon returns to sunshine afterwards.
If you arrive this month, make sure to keep one eye on the weather forecast and try to avoid being too active during the peak heat of the day.

Guardalavaca Beaches in June
If you want to enjoy the 29°C water, go for a swim at Playa Yuraguanal. It is relatively remote compared to other beaches you might want to take a taxi or drive over there but this makes it one of the best-kept secrets in Cuba. You will find that many local hotel guests will head over to the larger Playa Guardalavaca, leaving this one quiet and tranquil.
The water is shallow enough for even those who are not confident swimmers, though further out it is deep enough to enjoy water sports like hiring a pedalo or trying out snorkelling. The sun loungers on the beach are free to use and hotel guests will also enjoy a bar. You will also see flags letting you know about the safety of the water normally these will be green for safe conditions or yellow for caution. The beach is cleaned daily and is home to small fish and crabs as well as bigger species further out in the reef areas.
Bars and Restaurants
Restaurant 1720 is based in the centre of Holguin and offers a historic setting for your meal. They serve great traditional Cuban dishes, like rice and peas, roast pork, chicken stew, and fish. This is also a great place for a celebration, so make it a special visit as part of your holiday.
The Casa de la Trova is a great bar where you can sit and watch the world go by all day long, with a few snacks to keep you busy. It's in a central part of the town and people watching is almost a sport here. Then later on at night, local Cubans will mingle with tourists to dance the night away. It's a great place to ensure a night of fun.
For something a little more laidback, try Royal. They have their own cocktail recipes which they will serve to you in branded glasses, and the rest of the experience is very elegant. All of the plates and silverware are printed with the name of the venue, so you will certainly never forget where you are! They serve Cuban food with a great price.
