What's the Weather like in Grand Cayman in October
Temperature
October features little lower temperatures in the Grand Cayman resort than in August and September. The highest daily temperatures on the largest of the Cayman Islands usually range between 28C (82.4F) and 32C (89.6F). In general, daily lowest temperatures vary between 24C (75.2F) and 28C (82.4F), sometimes more. For a reference, average daily temperatures on the Bahamas (Nassau) this time of the year are somewhat cooler.
In the course of October, the time of the day when it is very hot shortens rapidly. At the beginning of the month, you are likely to have a hot weather from around 10 am to 6 pm. Around October 25, this time frame is from around noon until 3:30 pm. From around October 28 onward, warm temperatures are prevalent throughout the day.
Clouds
As pleasant temperatures on Grand Cayman become increasingly likely as the time passes, so does the likelihood of a sunny weather. On the first day of the month, the possibility of clear, mostly clear or partially cloudy sky is 24%. On October 31, the chances of a nice weather are 42%.
Sunshine Hours
Rain
Albeit the chances of a good weather increase as days pass, October is still one of the two rainiest months in Grand Cayman Island, if not the wettest. In general, the island receives around 220 mm (8.66 in) of rainfall during the entire month. On average, October has 14 rainy days.
With a 39% chance for rain, October 1 is most likely to be the rainiest day in the month. The smallest possibility of a wet day is 32% on October 31. The precipitation could range anywhere between 14 mm (0.55 in) and 257 mm (10.12 in) on any day.
Albeit these statistics may seem grim, note that the highest probability of rain is during the night, somewhere past midnight. Evenings around 6:30 pm are usually the least likely time of the day for a rainy weather.
Also note that once a shower or a thunderstorm occurs, it usually doesn't rain again during that day. More so, it isn't uncommon for people in one part of the town to experience a thunderstorm while those in the other part enjoy dry weather.
Wind Speed
The increase in the speed of the wind is constant in the course of October. The beginning of the month features the wind speed of around 5 m/s. The wind speed is likely to be 6.3 m/s by the end of October. Mid-morning (around 9 am) is usually the windiest while mid-afternoon (around 3 pm) is the calmest time of the day in October.

Sunrise and Sunset
As days go by in October, the duration of daylight decreases. October 1 is the day with the longest daylight, which lasts from 6:15 am to 6:13 pm. On October 31, the sun rises at 6:25 am and sets at 5:51 pm.
Average Sea Temperature
The sea temperature around the Grand Cayman coastline remains constant at 29C (84.2F) during this period.
Extraordinary Weather Occurances
We can say that October is the last month of the hurricane season, albeit little chances of these occurring remain in November, too. Yet, this doesn't mean that hurricanes (74 mph/119 kph and over), or tropical storms (up to 74 mph/119 kph) happen often, quite the opposite. The last hurricane (Ivan) that caused big damage on the island of Grand Cayman took place in September 2004.
Because of the nearness of Caribbean and North American tectonic plates, earthquakes also tend to happen now and then. But, they are also rare, with the last major earthquake occurring in 2004.
However, if an earthquake happens somewhere in the surrounding area during your stay on the island, be aware of the possibility of a tsunami. Tsunamis manifest themselves through the series of waves, which become the largest by the coast. So, if you are on the beach, for example, and notice the water receding, go inland or take some high ground as quickly as possible. People on the open sea are often safer than those on the shore. If a tsunami happens, west coast of Grand Cayman is usually exposed the most.
