What's the weather like in Gozo in October?
Sea Temperature
October typically marks the end of summer in Gozo and while average sea temperatures of 24°C ensures that it is still possible to swim in the sea every day, the weather is not nearly as consistent as it is in the peak months of July and August.
Temperature
Throughout October, average temperatures of 21°C are usual, with highs reaching up to 24°C and lows of approximately 17°C. However with the chance of a sunny day falling to 47%, a week in Gozo in October is unlikely to be all sunshine.
The earlier in October that you visit Gozo, the more likelihood of warmer weather. Daily average temperatures can reach up to 24°C in the first half of the period. However, as you near the end of October, temperatures of 21°C and 20°C become far more likely.

Gozo still enjoys up to 9 hours of daily sunshine on average in October, making it much milder in this region than in many parts of Europe. And there have been a number of years where maximum temperatures have far exceeded the forecast, with temperatures reaching a very warm 35°C in October 1999.
Rain
October is also the second wettest month of the year and usually experiences approximately 90mm of rainfall collectively through the month, with a 33% possibility of any single day being rainy. This, together with the many warm days experienced during the month, ensure humidity in Gozo in October is considerably higher than in the drier summer months.
The highest amount of rain falling in one hour was experienced on the 4th October 2004 when 67mm fell between 7:56am and 8:56am. However the 5% chance of a cloudy day ensures visibility across the island still remains very good.
Wind
October is also the second windiest month of the year, with the chance of having a windy day on the island at approximately 15%. However, as most of the wind is Easterly, North Easterly in nature, the air temperature remains still very agreeable.

Citadel Cinema
If you do experience some poor weather in October, then a trip to the Citadel Cinema will give you shelter and entertainment at the same time. Based in the centre of Victoria, the cinema has one or two showings everyday including the very latest blockbusters as well as some old favourites.
Ta Kola Windmill
The windier days in October make this the perfect month to visit the Ta Kola Windmill in Xaghra. Dating all the way back to the Knight's Period, this is one of the only windmills in Gozo left standing, and offers a wonderful insight into the lives of the millers of the period. Not only are the sights from the windmill itself spectacular, Ta Kola also houses the largest known collection of millers tools, many of which have been hand crafted by the millers that resided within the windmill.

The Magro Food Village offers a wonderful opportunity to experience some of Gozo's most loved specialities for yourself. Book a tour and discover the delights of the variety of foodstuffs produced on the island with plenty to taste on your way around.
