What's the weather like in Gozo in February?
Temperature
As we move into February, and away from the core winter months, the weather in Gozo starts to improve. Whilst the average temperature for the entire month equates to 13°C, it is really in the latter part of the month that you can expect to feel such warmth.
In the early days of February, the weather in Gozo is more likely to be closer to the temperatures in January, which can be a degree or two cooler than at the end of this month. However the climate is still far milder than many other parts of Europe at this time and it is fabulous time to enjoy the island.
Highs of up to 16°C ensure there are plenty of warm days in Gozo in February. Whilst the chance of experiencing a sunny day reaches up to 30% throughout the month. This offers a very appealing climate for walkers, hikers and sightseers in the region.
At night, temperatures of approximately 9° are common for this time of the year, with the lowest temperature ever recorded for February still one degree above freezing.
Rain
As the region starts to prepare for a long, hot, dry summer, the number of hours of daily sunshine also starts to climb, reaching 8 hours per day at this time of the year.
February in Gozo is a lot drier than the days traditionally experienced in January. There is only a 49% chance of rain on any one day. And with an average rainfall throughout the month expected to be only 61mm, there is always a lot of sun to be enjoyed.
Sea Temperature
In the sea, temperatures are at their coldest in February and are likely to remain there throughout March as well. However, even at its lowest point, the water still remains a very pleasant 16°C.
Clouds
Visit Gozo during the second month of the year and the chances of having a cloudy day are a very slim 10%. This provides a constant and dependable climate similar to other popular destinations in Malta such as Mellieha and Golden Bay.
