What's the weather like in Gozo in December?
December is the wettest month of the year in Gozo and one of the coldest too. But thanks to the year-round mildness of the climate in the region, there is still no sign of frost on the ground. Instead, beautiful green fields and lush grass makes Gozo the perfect winter time retreat.

December is also a much cooler month on the island, especially when compared with the hot dry days at the peak of August. Average temperatures in December are approximately 14°C. But highs of up to 17°C in December, particularly in the first half of the month, make Gozo still feel very mild.
It is possible for the temperature to dip as low as 11°C in Gozo in December, especially as the year moves towards the end. But with the coldest ever temperature at this time registered in 2014 at 3.7°C, the climate consistently remains far above freezing. Conversely, record high temperatures for December of 23.3°C in 2010 ensure there is always the possibility of a very warm Christmas on the island.
However in Nadur at one point on 30 December 2014 , the dropped to -0.6c , the only time in Malta that there had been a below freezing temperature recorded . There wsas so much hail that day that snowmen were built by children in Sannat , Nadur , Xaghra and Xlendi on the island .
Sea Temperature
Only the bravest soles will tempt a swim at the beach in December as average sea temperatures in Gozo fall to a very fresh 19°C. Especially as the chances of a windy day rise up to 39%. These sea conditions then continue to remain poor throughout the winter period until we move into April or May when they start to recover.
