What's the weather like in Gozo in April?
April is the start of a long summer of warm, dry weather in Gozo as the climate improves on an almost daily basis.
Temperature
There is still some volatility to the weather in April, especially towards the beginning of the month. But an average day time temperature of 16°C and highs peaking at 19°C ensure some exceptional days for anyone visiting the region.
Peak temperatures of more than 31°C have been recorded during April in Gozo in the past, with the highest temperature of 31.1°C registered in 1999. However in 2003, the lowest temperature in recorded history was also experienced for April in Gozo. But at a very comfortable 12°C, Gozo still remains much milder than many other parts of Europe at this time of year.
Sea Temperature
Thanks to the warmer climates in February and March, April is also the month when the sea temperatures start to rise in Gozo. By mid-April, swimmers and divers can expect the sea temperature to climb up to 17°C and then continue to get warmer throughout the summer season.
Sunshine Hours
Visitors to Gozo in April can also enjoy up to 11 hours of daily sun, with only 10 of those days expecting any kind of rainfall at all. However, with only a 20% chance of rain every day and expected precipitation amounting to just 23mm throughout the entire month, even when it does rain in the region, the weather doesn't have to spoil the visit.
Rain
The reduction in rainfall also ensures humidity falls during the month, both during the day and during the night.
The climate in Gozo during April is very much on par with other resorts in the region and equal to those in Valetta on the main island of Malta. The weather is also significantly more pleasant than neighbouring resorts including Syracuse on the southern tip of Sicily and Sfax in nearby Tunisia.
