The Hotel Rural la Correa del Almendro in Arona, with only six rooms, is an old farmhouse, set in a grove of almond trees, in the quiet southern mountains. Each room has hardwood floors and a sea or mountain view, and includes a private bathroom and safe. There is an outdoor pool and sun terrace. The restaurant serves traditional local dishes and features a five-course meal with wine. It is a steep but picturesque walk down the hill to Arona town. A Spanish couple bought the property in 2010 and live on the premises.

The Royal Tenerife Country Club in San Miquel de Abona, is in the Golf Del Sur golf course, about a mile from the ocean. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and boasts two outdoor pools, a bar, gym and tennis courts. Each colonial-style apartment has a balcony, terrace or garden, and features cable television, a kitchenette, and a sofa bed for extra guests. The front desk is attended 24 hours and the Tenerife Sur Airport is only ten minutes away.
Beaches in Golf del Sur for February
El Duque Beach
The sandy El Duque beach is located in the newly developed area of Costa Adeje and its seafront promenade with joins together eight beaches. It stretches 700 yards and hosts a variety of facilities including umbrella and sunbed rentals, showers, bathrooms, and changing rooms, plus many nearby restaurants and bars.
El Medano Beach
EL Medano beach is located near the small seaside resort of Grandilla de Abona. At a little over a mile of sand, it is the longest beach on the island and ends at a volcanic rocky area called Montana Rojo. It is a family-friendly beach with many facilities and is often visited by local residents as well as tourists. El Medano is surrounded by a protected nature preserve which is ideal for exploring the natural landscape of the area.

Pancake Cafe
The Pancake Cafe is located on the water next to the Aquamarina Golf Hotel. There is outdoor seating with a view overlooking the sea and is ideal for families with children. The pancakes are large with unique fillings such as banana and chocolate or smothered in bacon and banana. They feature fresh squeezed orange juice and apple pie with chunks of apple. The menu also includes burgers and salads for those who do not wish to have pancakes. There are highchairs for the toddlers but be warned: they close at six pm.
Maria Restaurante and Lounge Bar
The Maria Restaurante and Lounge Bar has just relocated to the Edificio Nautico Suites in Los Abrigios. The room is large with a light atmosphere that feels like an exclusive restaurant yet is reasonably priced. If offers authentic and modern Mediterranean cooking including Italian and Spanish cuisine. Try the meatball appetisers with bread, steak and chips, seafood or chicken and chorizo paella, or the rack of lamb. The wine list is excellent.
Haweli Indian Tandoori Restaurant
The authentic Haweli Indian Tandoori Restaurant in the San Blas Commercial Centre, offers a complete traditional menu. Start with the meat samosas ,then sample the curries, Lamb Rogan with rice, Prawns Biryani with Naan break, or the Mushroom Korma with lemon rice. It is a good choice for families with children and has a large vegetarian menu.
Things to do in Golf del Sur in February
Abama Golf
Abama Golf, located on The upscale Ritz-Carlton Abama Resort in Guia de Isora, is a full scale, par 72 championship course with a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean and the Island of La Gomera in the distance. It is known for its wide fairways, large greens and its variety of 22 lakes, waterfalls, white-sand bunkers and over 25000 palm trees. Soft spikes are required.
Waterbuggy Fun
Waterbuggy Fun, or Island Watersports, on the beach at Costa Adeje, offers exciting, yet safe, adventures on water buggies, jet skies, or by paragliding. You will towed into the harbour for frolicking in the salt water but always within a safe distance to the staff to keeps a close eye on your activities for your safety. Pilot whales, dolphins, or even turtles are sometimes spotted while at sea. There is a locker for your shoes and purses and life jackets are always supplied.
Artlandya Doll Museum
While located outside the typical tourist area of the south coast (it is more to the north-west side of the island), the Artlandya Doll Museum, in Icod de los Vinos, is a unique experience. The drive is half the fun as it takes you through small villages, mostly ignored by the island visitors. The dolls are made from porcelain, wood and other materials and have been collected from doll studios of the world, including life size replications of a Chinese man and a boy. The museum is in a garden setting with a view of the ocean and has a cafeteria.
