What's the Weather like in Golf del Sur in April

Even though spring has arrived, there is not much difference in the climate patterns affecting Golf del Sur, on the southern coast of Tenerife, in the Canary islands. Still mild and pleasant, this island destination promises something for everyone. Travelers need not worry about changing their plans due to adverse weather: what you see today, is probably what you will see tomorrow. If rain or wind does come, it is brief, and soon the skies are blue again.

Temperature

April weather remains fairly constant from the preceding months with little changes to report. The average temperature is still 20ºC (67ºF) with an average high of 23ºC (73ºF) and low of 16ºC (61ºF).

Humidity

The dew point, a better measurement of comfort, begins to slight increase to 11.2ºC (52ºF) with a relative humidity beginning to slightly decrease to 59%. The record high temperature for April 1st was 25.5ºC (78ºF) in 2006, and the record low was 14ºC (57º) in 2004.

Rainfall

The is less rainfall days at 3, although the accumulation increases to 23 mm. The winds are still unchanged at about 12mph-13mph but can gust above 20 mph.

Casa Zaguan

The small Casa Zaguan, with only eight rooms, is on the village square in Vilaflor, has a classic décor in bright colours and is set in a lovely garden by the countryside making it ideal for hiking and cycling, as guests receive free use of bicycles. The rooms have their own or shared bathroom. Other facilities include a barbecue area, a seasonal outdoor pool, hot tube and fitness center, a game room and shared lounge and television area. The hotel is owned by an English couple but be warned: they accept only cash and no credit cards.

Sun Bay Villas

The Sun Bay Villas, in San Miquel de Abona, is a stylish complex that is part of the Amarilla Golf Club on the ocean. The rooms are modern with views of the harbour and close to ocean walking paths and, although quiet, is close to many restaurants, bars, and a supermarket. The resort has landscaped grounds, multiple swimming pools, a tennis court, gym, and a horseback riding. The villas are large with full kichenette including refrigerator and dishwasher, flat-screen television, and a sitting and dining area.

Hotel Playa Sur Tenerife

The Hotel Playa Sur Tenerife, on the beach in El Mendano, is centrally located, with a bus stop directly in front. The rooms are simple with pine furniture and  balconies. There is a swimming pool, grounds and multiple available activities such as windsurfing and snorkeling. The property includes a 24-hour front desk, tour ticket, ticketing service, a business center, and laundry facilities.

 

Beaches in Golf del Sur for April

Playa Diego Hernandez Beach

Playa Diego Hernandez beach, between El Puerito and La Caleta, is only accessible by foot requiring a 45 minute hike through a nature preserve before reaching the bay. It is partially rock with some sand and, because of its remoteness, there is some nude sunbathing. There are no restaurants but there is a small Chinese grocery near a fishing village.

Playa Fanabe Beach

Playa Fanabe beach is on the southern coast of Costa Adeje. Although near the resorts, it is a quiet area but has many faculties such a umbrella and sunbed rentals, water-sports, and close to restaurants and bars. It also is wheel-chair accessible.

Deli on the Hill

Deli on The Hill, Puerto de Santiago, is a casual place for fresh, seasonal salads, such as the  Coronation chicken with papaya, and specialty sandwiches like the mackerel and beet root served with your choice of bread.  Quiches, pies, and cakes are baked daily and baked goods for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries are available to order. Have a piece of cake on the fine china accompanied by a cup of tea or a glass of wine. The kitchen closes at 3 pm and the dining room at 5:30.

The Willows

The Willows in Los Cristianos has an until menu selection featuring Irish, Dutch, and traditional Tapas. It is located in the Centro Comercial Apolo shopping center and features local spirits and wines and always has fresh brewed coffee. Try the risotto, sausage quiche, ham and fried egg sandwich black bean pudding, goats cheese plate and the tuna rice balls. Of course, there is genuine Guinness on draught.

Volcanic Islands

The Volcanic Islands, located on the roadside in Golf del Sur, is a European style steakhouse and bar which also features a family-friendly menu. Start with the bruschetta,and the special Volcanic Islands salad then try the spare ribs in barbecue sauce, rabbit, and German sausages. They are known for their Champagne sangria or a pint of beer for a Euro until 6 pm.

Things to do in Golf del Sur in April

Golf Las Americas

Golf Las Americas, located in Playa de las Americas, is a golf course on the slopes of the hills protecting it from the prevalent winds of the island. Steams cross the fairways and there are several lakes. The club features state of the art, GPS aided, golf carts. It is easy to play nine holes in two hours but beware of the water hazards.

Piramide de Arona

Located in the city of Playa de las Americas, in the Piramide de Arona, are musical and dance performances including flamenco singers, dancers, and guitarists. Other appearances feature opera singers performing in Spanish. Recent shows have been  by Carmen Mota and a flamenco version of the opera Rigoletto with great music and wonderful costumes. There is an intermission so children will be able to keep their interest.

Siam Water Park

The Siam Water Park, in Adeje, was built by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. There are many water slides suitable for all ages plus a wave pool for surfing and the Mai Thai River, a lazy river for rafting. There is also a river rapids ride and the park has the largest Thai building outside of Asia.
