November is much cooler in Golden Sands as the tourist season draws to a close.
Although many of the hotels close for the winter, several stay open such as the Admiral and the Imperial. Accommodation can also be found much more cheaply at this time of year.
Although it is too chilly to lounge around on the beach, the beautiful soft sand can still be enjoyed with a bracing horse ride. The riding school in the area will provide lessons if you are not a seasoned equestrian.
There is still plenty to see and do around the resort even though it is off season.
The biggest attraction is the Golden Sands Nature Park, which surrounds the resort. This 3000 acre park is a protected area and houses many rare species of plant life and wildlife. This can be enjoyed by hiking or cycling, and a popular option is a jeep safari.
Nearby you can visit one of the stunning rock monasteries, literally carved into the hillside, as well as the ruined palace at Perperikon. The palace dates from the 13th century BC and is an ongoing archaeological site.
To learn more about the history of the area you can head to the pretty village of Balchik and visit the Historical Museum, which houses many exhibits of ancient artefacts.
Back at the resort you can still indulge in tennis, volleyball and basketball, and golf lovers can check out one of the three new 18 hole courses in the area.
There are still many bars and restaurants to choose from, and younger holiday makers will still find clubs open until the early hours!
