Gibraltar is an island located on the southern border of Andalucia, Spain, at the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula. It has a population of around 30,000 people. The most popular way to see the rock is to take the cable car to the top. There is also a bus tour offered daily with a guide who provides visitors with information on the rock and the main sights. However, for those who like to hike, then the walking tour is a must.
There is a nature reserve in Gibraltar that houses Barbary Macaques, the only free-roaming native monkeys in Europe. A trip to the Apes Den is well worth it for the chance to see these lively monkeys.
Beaches in Gibraltar
There are several beaches located on Gibraltar. The first is Catalan Bay, outside of the city but easily accessible via public transport. The quiet and secluded beach is a great spot for a swim or a bit of sunbathing. Conveniently, there are also several restaurants on the beach. Of those, Sea Waves Bar serves the best seafood.
Sandy Bay is also a quiet and rather secluded beach. It has clear blue waters and sandy beaches perfect for swimming and sunbathing as well as diving, snorkelling or kayaking.
For families with children, Rosia Bay is the best beach on Gibraltar. It has been specifically developed with kids in mind and includes a water playground plus several restaurants and cafes.
Gibraltar Nightlife
Gibraltar offers a lively nightlife scene that is sure to be appealing to everyone who visits. If dancing is a priority, there are a number of nightclubs that are open until the wee hours playing the best in house and dance music.
Most of the nightlife attractions can be found on Casemates Square in the centre of town. If dancing isnât what youâre looking for, there are plenty of pubs and bars.
