This medieval-looking castle rests on the foundations dating back to the Roman times, which confirms its strategic importance. The exterior of the Chillon Castle features defensive facilities, such as arrow slits and battlements. Inside the fortified complex, the buildings encircle four small courtyards. The gloomy dungeon, which served as a prison and an armory, is one of the highlights of the castle.

Brunswick Monument

Brunswick Monument is a neo-Gothic masterpiece of Ville de Genève. It is a monument dedicated to Charles d'Este-Guelph, an eccentric duke of Brunswick who was a linguist, musician and chevalier (horseman). Today, it doesn't seem to be a big deal. However, it raised quite a controversy in 1873 because none mausoleum was built here before this one.
