Fuerteventura Beach for December
Ajuy Beach
Ajuy Beach is a popular beach with pure black sand much darker than that which you'll find across most of the island. The sea here is remarkably clean and blue, providing a great colour contrast to the volcanic sand and creating some great photo opportunities. Even though the beach is always busy, the strong currents often make swimming dangerous and it is not advisable to swim too far out especially for children.
On the right-hand side of the beach there is a paved path that leads to a cliff which you can walk along for spectacular ocean views. Just back from the beach there are also a few small fishing restaurants where you can enjoy the local Canarian cuisine, with more bars and restaurants further into the centre of the village.
La Pared Beach
La Pared Beach is 900m-long beach with fine, golden sand. Since this beach is situated on the west coast of the island, the sea is also very rough and the currents are strong almost constantly. Sadly, this means it's unsuitable for swimming although it's still great for sunbathing and walking. Local windsurfers and surfers often use the big waves to their advantage, but unless you're skilled and experienced in water sports, it's unadvisable to go into the sea. There is a small car park at the top of the cliffs where you can leave your car and follow the path down to the beach.
Cofete Beach
Located in the Jandia Nature Reserve, Cofete beach offers some beautiful scenery, ideal for secluded relaxation. Adjacent to the stunning Jandia Massif mountain range, this beach is in the less built up southern part of the island, so tends to be less busy than beaches on the northern coast. The only thing to consider is that part of this beach is a naturist beach where cllothes are optional, so visitors should bear this in mind before going.
