Fuengirola Beach for April
Santa Amalia is a beach that is roughly 1.5 km in length, providing the biggest swimming area (in length) in Fuengirola. If you want to do more than just swim in the water, there are places to rent jet-skis and pedal boats. There is even an area that was created for small children to play. If it's not quite warm enough to go in the water, there are plenty of bars, restaurants (such as the El Sultan serving Morrocan cuisine), and places to shop very close by, as well as clubs and places to go dancing if you are there in the evening or well into the night. Santa Amalia beach is located close to San Francisco beach, so it too is about a 5 minute drive from the city centre.
Bars and Restaurants
The Gourmet Lounge is the place to go if you are craving a burger or taking a break from the local cuisine. They also serve British specialties like fish and chips and steak pies, as well as a variety of starters, such as crispy spring rolls. They serve a little bit of everything, with gourmet coffees and teas and beer/cocktails offered as well. With a good mix of indoor and outdoor space and plenty of TV's, they also cater to the sports crowd looking to catch the current football match. They are located about 10 minutes from the city centre.
If you are in search of live music, be sure to check out Pogs Old Irish Rock Bar. With live bands/musicians playing nightly, and a fun and lively atmosphere, this is the place for any music lover. Pogs caters to all age groups and is family friendly. They are open from 7 PM to 3 AM on Monday through Saturday, and 6 PM to 2 AM on Sundays. Pogs is located about a five minute walk from the city centre.
Things to do in Fuengirola in April
If you enjoy racing, the Karting Experience Fuengirola is the place for you. They offer kart racing on two courses to test your racing skills against other drivers. There is a longer course that is 450 meters long, and a shorter 200 meter track is designed for children. The karts can reach speeds of 48 kph (30 mph) and can be driven by anyone 10 years old and up. There is an outdoor terrace where you can either watch other racers, or just relax in between your own races. There is also a snack bar in case you get hungry or thirsty. Karting Experience Fuengirola is located in the Miramar shopping centre, just five minutes outside of the city centre, and is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.
A good way to see a different side of Fuengirola and possibly some wildlife, including dolphins is to take a boat cruise. Alborán Explorer offers rides that last 90 minutes and cost 15 for adults and 8 for children. Food and drinks are available on the boat and depending on the weather, the boat will make a stop for those who want to jump into the sea. They are located in Fuengirola's port, or about 12 minutes walking from the city centre.
