Things to do in Florida in February
Mardi Gras
The St. Andrews Mardi Gras Festival and Parades in Panama City, Florida take place either at the end of January or in the beginning of February. Unlike the Mardi Gras celebration of other places, St. Andrews Mardi Gras is a family-friendly festival with numerous family-oriented activities along with the classic beads, masks, floats and doubloons.
There will also be a fireworks display, vendors selling food and drinks, bands and kid rides. After the festival or during a break in between the festivities, enjoy the beach at St. Andrews State Park where you can sunbathe, take a boat tour to Shell Island or eat your lunch in one of the pavilions in the area.
Wonder Works
Wonder Works is really something to wonder at, since upon entering the building, everything you will see is upside down. Imagine the feeling of being inverted as well. Additional attractions include the Natural Disasters exhibit, Space Discovery, the Far Out Art Gallery and the Light and Sound Zone. Your children will rave about this for months.
Gulf World Marine Park
For more children-friendly activities, cap the day with a visit to the Gulf World Marine Park where you can watch live shows of sea lions, dolphins and birds. You can also walk through tropical gardens, which are the homes of all kinds of animals, from sharks to alligators and from penguins to turtles.
