Faro Beach for September

Nature lovers and families with children should head to Praia Verde. Praia Verde is located just west of Monte Gordo, just six miles from the Spanish Portugal border. This is one of the most secluded and least developed beaches in the Algarve region. Surrounded by pine trees and bushes, take advantage of the last bit of summer and take a swim. Because of the proximity to the Mediterranean, Eastern Algarve beaches are known to be a couple degrees warmer than their central and western counterparts. You will find the endless white sand perfect for a long walk. There are also sun beds available and a couple bars and restaurants if you want a beach break.

Bars and Restaurants

Wine lovers will love Silves's tour of the Quinta do Frances Family Estate. Quinta do Frances is one of the best small producers in the Algarve region. The guided tour is offered in English, Portuguese or French and takes about 30 minutes. This tour includes a walkthrough of the winery and vineyards, visit to winery vats with the process explained, visit to the basement and oak barrels area, and ends with a tasting of the Odelouca wines (rosé, white, and red). If your group is under 8 people the cost is 7.50 a person, greater than 8 7 a person. Children are free.

If you are in the mood for some great Italian head to L'oasis Pizzeria Italiana in Armacao de Pera. The Italian owner loves pizza and does it well. Besides pizza, you can find typical Italian fare here such as lasagne, fusilli, and homemade tiramisu for dessert. The atmosphere is relaxed and children are welcome.
