Faro Beach for May
One popular beach you shouldnt miss is Praia da Rocha. Located in the nearby resort of Rocha this beach is well worth the trip. Rocha has been up and coming in the past years due to a redevelopment project and the aesthetically pleasing cliffs. Along the main avenue, Tomas Cabreira, you will find everything from hotels, outdoor cafes, casinos, nightclubs, and bars. With the massive amount of space on the beach, you won't have to battle for towel territory. If you want to take the whole view in, head to the end of Tomas Cabreira Avenue and you will find the Fortress of Santa Catarina de Ribamar. This fortress was part of Portimao's defences against pirates and offers an amazing view of the beach, cliffs, and marina.
Bars and Restaurants
A great place to dine in central Faro is p a p a r a z z i. An Italian restaurant with a laid back atmosphere, this eatery is family friendly and reasonably priced. The portions are large, too, and you can expect to enjoy traditional Italian dishes such as gorgonzola penne, spaghetti bolognese, bruschetta, calzones, and pizza. Those looking for authentic Portuguese cuisine should head over to Restaurante Chefe Branco. Located about ten minutes walking North West of central Faro, all kinds of diners are welcome here, couples, families, locals, and visitors alike. A stand out dish is the pork and shellfish cataplana which is meant for two but could easily feed more. Be aware that smoking is allowed inside, so it might not be a top choice for families.
Things to do in Faro in May
