Faro Beach for June

Be sure to head to Praia da Falesia located in between Albufeira and Vilamoura. Falesia is one of the longest beaches in the Algarve region. There is about 4 miles of golden sand and is a popular family option due to the cleanliness maintained. 'Falesia' means cliff and the cliffs here have a very distinct copper/red colour, which glows at sunset. Besides checking out all of the restaurants, cafes, and bars along the beach, there are many water sport facilities available, too, such as scuba diving, windsurfing and water skiing. One company to hire jet skis is Dream Wave who offer 15 and 30 minute experiences starting at 45 with the inclusion of safety and operational training.

Bars and Restaurants

Grab a couple drinks at Columbus Cocktail & Wine Bar. It's a classy joint, and unusually, the drinks menu comes in the form of a newspaper. This place attracts a mature crowd and you'll find everything from mojitos to cosmopolitans at reasonable prices, there's a focus on gin and whisky so you're laughing if you love a G&T. The view isn't too shoddy either, you can watch boats pass in the marina while the sun sets.

If you are looking for a more modern, upscale take on food in Faro, give Faz Gostos a try. Faz Gostos is located in Old Town, Faro. For dinner there is a tasting menu, which is excellent value consisting of a starter, fish, sorbet, magret de canard, and dessert for around 35. There is a lunch menu called the executive menu that includes options such as a pork cheek dish and tuna steak priced at 15. The wine list is extensive with prices for every budget. The atmosphere is more suited towards a special occasion or for those looking for a bit of a treat.
