What's the weather like in Estepona in October
Temperature
And so, with the sweet summer gone, Costa del Sol and its beautiful Estepona now welcome a mild and humid autumn, with significantly more precipitation than September, but not skimping on the sunshine either! The average temperature is 19⁰C (66⁰F), still considerably warm but no longer adequate for sunbathing sessions. The high average is a lovely 21⁰C, best felt during the bright and sunny days of the first and second week of October in particular. The nights are cool but comfortable at 16⁰C, despite the increased humidity of 72% on average.
Sunshine Hours
The days shorten a little more, with up to 9 hours of sunshine and only 26% chances of full-on sunny days. Chances of rain jump to 30% and chances of cloudy days join in as well at 21% on average, creating a balanced tableau of sunny, cloudy and even some significantly rainy days. Rainfall volume reaches 60mm on average, spread over a total of 12 days, mostly present during the third and fourth week of the month, closer to November.
Wind
The winds slow down again, at average speeds of 1.5m/s, and most of them begin to blow from the north and north-east, as the mountains begin to signal the impending approach of winter. Chances of windy days are lower than usual at 39% on average, but still significant enough as they continue to contribute to the high tides and choppy waters that are so much fun for sailing and windsurfing when the sun is out. The sea currents maintain their tropical influence, though, and the water temperature stays at a wonderful 20⁰C (68⁰F), still great for swimming and even snorkelling.

Estepona Beaches in October
Playa Bahia Dorada
While the weather may no longer be optimal for sunbathing and deep sea swimming, you can still go to a beach on Costa del Sol and enjoy the fresh and salty air, the marine breeze and the sound of waters splashing against the sand. Playa Bahia Dorada, for example, is bounded by two headlands and rather short 700m long and 40m wide.
But it's fronted by the well-established urbanisation of Bahia Dorada, and the sand is soft, while the view opens up to a superb sea. A seafront promenade was constructed here recently, in order to avoid land erosion in the winter storms, when the sea gets choppy and gradually eats away at the shore. It's perfect for those long walks, even when the wind grows stronger
Bars and Restaurants
El Cazador
There are a few excellent places to try in October if you find yourself in Estepona and you're looking for the authentic taste of Spain. El Cazador, for instance, serves lunch and dinner and specializes in Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine it's very popular and offers great value and taste for money. It sports a lovely and large terrace overlooking the port, but we do recommend trying to reserve a table rather than just walking in, as it gets busy even in the early autumn.
El Carnicero
El Carnicero is a superb restaurant, specializing in fine meats cooked on a traditional charcoal grill, and its menu encompasses some of the French and European "greats" of gastronomy. They do feature some excellent fresh seafood on the side, too. And El Latin likes its cuisine more on the Spanish, Italian and South American sides, best known for the Argentinian asados and its Peruvian ceviches. This friendly and attractive little spot can be found in Centro Comercial Benapilar in Benavista well worth the drive!
Louie Louie
Louie Louie is a rock music establishment which can be found close to O'Donoghues Irish Pub. They host regular Spanish and international touring rock and blues bands, and they're open every night except Mondays, starting at 22:30. Normally it's free to enter, but when the live music shows are on, they charge between 6 and 12 Euros. They also do a popular Sunday afternoon band and jam session from 4pm onwards.

You can also hire horses near Tarifa, where you can ride purebreds across the sand dunes. For fancy dressage and demonstrations you can visit the Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez every Thursday morning there will be plenty of tour operators taking you all the way into Jerez from Estepona, and most of them will include equestrian moments and visit to the local sherry bodegas.
