Temperature
August gets even hotter than July! This is the peak season for the holidays, with an average temperature of 23⁰C (73⁰F), mild yet hot enough to make you feel like it's definitely summer. The nights are pleasant at a lower end of 20⁰C on average, while the higher average is expected to easily exceed the 26⁰C mark. August has been known to record temperatures as high as 33⁰C on the peak of the heat spectrum, but rest assured that even if it does get hotter than usual, the marine breeze will keep the atmosphere enviably comfortable.

There are up to 12 hours of glorious sunshine in the day, and chances of sun are as high as 65% on average throughout the month. Chances of cloudy days are still down at 2%, as previously seen in July, and chances of rain also stay low at 3% on average. Humidity is slightly higher, hanging around 66%, and there are only a few extra drops of rain pouring down this month literally.

Rainfall will most likely reach a volume of just 8mm, gathered over a total of 2 days. Precipitation is minimal and easily translated into one or two quick 5-minute showers. Like we said, nothing to even worry about. The only thing we do insist upon is SPF protection, as the sun may be deceiving and burn.

Playa La Rada
If you're staying at the H10, then you're most likely to enjoy the comforts and shallow entrance of the Guadalabon Beach. However you cannot find yourself in Estepona and not visit the fabulous Playa La Rada, the city's most popular and most beautiful beach. It's right in the centre, backed by a modern seafront promenade for its length of 2.6km.
Chiringuitos are scattered all over this superb stretch of golden sand, each of them serving delicious fresh fish, seafood and local treats such as paella and sardines. You'll find the Marina and lighthouse west of the beach, while the seafront promenade and beach terminate at the eastern end with a headland known as Punta de la Plata, opening up to yet another beach. Bask in the sun, swim in the azure waters or simply lounge and admire the boats out at sea, find shade under a palm tree and sip on a cool cocktail La Rada offers a slice of Spanish paradise.

There is a lovely restaurant situated in Estepona's port, called Rosatti, offering views of the Mediterranean Sea. The service is excellent, the prices are good and highly competitive even in the high season, and the restaurant specializes in authentic Italian cuisine a soul healing variety of pizzas, pasta dishes, seafood and meat specialities. It's only open for dinner, so chances are you'll certainly appreciate the wine list.
Sala Duende
Sala Duende is a very trendy and very Spanish flamenco bar playing mostly original Spanish music. It features plenty of space and sports reasonable prices, spreading over two floors and a delightful patio. This is both a cocktail bar and an early type of night club. Under the sumptuous arch, La Esquina de Duende serves spirited drinks on the terrace, giving you the option to watch Estepona's nightlife unravel right before your eyes.
Things to do in Estepona in August
Fly Blue Gran Catamaran
One of the must do's of this season is the mini cruise through Fly Blue Gran Catamaran. Based in Marbella and Porto Banus, they offer 3-hour cruises, giving you a chance to sail along the Mediterranean while looking for dolphins and enjoying the superb views of Costa del Sol. You can cool off in the azure waters, then treat yourself to a barbecue and a big glass of authentic Sangria.
Los Giantanes
Walking in El Chorro is always a fashionable treat, as it never runs out of options or ways to amaze its visitors. For example, Los Giantanes from the GR7 are an excellent choice when the sun is out and bright in the sky. There are 3well-marked routes with posts on information boards to read carefully before going in any of the possible directions.
Two short walks will take you around the magnificent gorge, and if you start your voyage from the train station, you'll even be able to walk part of the GR7 following the Giantanes. The GR7 is the longest trail in Europe, and it's nearly 9,000km long. If you simply follow this walk for a few good miles, you'll be able to feast your eyes on some of the most amazing views the Costa del Sol and its gorges have to offer.
