Ephesus is an ancient city located in the country of Turkey near the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Aegean Sea. It was once a great city of the Greeks and Romans and home to the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, amongst other famous remainders. It is now an archaeological site of ruins which lies 3km southwest of the town of Selcukin the district of Izmir in Turkey. The roman ruins are a famous international tourist attraction which also has religious importance. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The topography is largely hilly and mountainess which is the same really all over Turkey. There is a wide variation in the topography and climate in Turkey due to the fact it is surrounded by 4 seas each with their own ecological constitution.
The weather is a typical Mediterranean climate, you can expect long, hot and dry summers and mild to cool, rainy winters. Temperatures in the summer months normally reach highs of 300C. The most rainfall is between November to March and virtually no rainfall in the months June, July and August. Snow can fall in winter.
During summer months there is a dry wind which blows called the meltemi which can also continue through to some of autumn. The wind normally starts early afternoon and dies down at sunset. The wind does affect the weather by cooling down the temperatures but can also blow sand into sunbatherâs faces.

In Summer in Ephesus you can expect temperatures to range from averages highs of 310C to 330C. Temperaturesin this season are not likely to drop below lows of 170C. The month of March is the wettest month in this season also but then precipitation does start to decrease quite a lot. Daily sunshine hours begin to increase again and you can expect up to 10 hours of daily sunshine hours in May. Sea temperatures begin to rise again too making their way up to 20 0C.
