The topography is largely hilly and mountainess which is the same really all over Turkey.  There is a wide variation in the topography and climate in Turkey due to the fact it is surrounded by 4 seas each with their own ecological constitution.

The weather is a typical Mediterranean climate, you can expect long, hot and dry summers and mild to cool, rainy winters.  Temperatures in the summer months normally reach highs of 300C.  The most rainfall is between November to March and virtually no rainfall in the months June, July and August.  Snow can fall in winter.

During summer months there is a dry wind which blows called the meltemi which can also continue through to some of autumn.  The wind normally starts early afternoon and dies down at sunset.  The wind does affect the weather by cooling down the temperatures but can also blow sand into sunbatherâs faces.
