Djerba enjoys some of its sunniest weather during April and May. With an average of 12 hours of daily sunshine, the sun is usually out for longer in these two months than at any other time of the year. This means that, for those that don't like the peak summer heat, April is a fantastic time to come to this island off the Coast of Tunisia.
April is also the start of the drier season on the island. While winter is mild and relatively wet, April heralds the start of the drier weather. And though it will be a couple of months before summer officially starts, it is likely that only 20mm of rain will fall throughout the entire month. On average this will fall across 5 days, so that the majority of the month is deliciously bright.
Temperatures for April in Djerba will usually average around 18°C. However peak daily temperatures of 22°C are likely throughout the month, offering a fabulous introduction to the warmer part of the weather cycle. And because average lows only fall to 14°C, the consistency in the weather is one reason April is very popular with visitors from across the world.
There have been occasions when the temperature has reached up to 39°C in April in Djerba. The highest temperature being recorded back in 2005. However with the record low recording at 0°C, the weather is generally very stable offering a very pleasant place to be.
With all that sun, the sea temperature starts to heat up, heralding the beach time weather which usually starts in May across Tunisia. But by April it is likely that the sea will increase to 18°C, which is the same as the average temperature at this time of the year. So don't be surprised to see the hardier of the local residents enjoying some early summer sun and a quick dip, especially in the more sheltered areas.
