THINGS TO DO

May and June are the prime egg laying months for the Loggerhead (Caretta Caretta) turtles native to Dalyan's Iztuzu beach. Visitors can tour the Dalyan Sea Turtles Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre to learn more about this endangered species and how efforts to preserve it have impacted the local populations in recent years.

Another popular tourist spot is the Dalyan mud baths and thermal water springs. Legend has it that the mud and hot springs in these areas contain therapeutic and even healing properties. It has even been told that the great Egyptian queen Cleopatra traveled to Dalyan to soak in the restorative waters. Nowadays, famous actors, actresses and even royalty can be spotted enjoying a soak and a scrub in the Dalyan mud baths.

HIT THE BEACH

One of the best beaches in the entire country of Turkey is located right in Dalyan. Iztuzu is a mixture of both tourism and turtles crammed into a 4.5km stretch of hard packed sand. The best time to see the sea turtles is in June and July when they drag themselves along the beach in order to lay their eggs. As a result, you can't put umbrellas into the sand, but this is still a great time to visit the beach. The water itself is calm making it the perfect spot for children to play in the sea without fear of large waves. This eco-beach is one that should not be missed and with sea surface temperatures of 23°C (73°F), this is a great time to see nature at its finest.

RESTAURANTS AND NIGHTLIFE

Ranked as the best restaurant in the city, Begonville House Restaurant is not to be missed. This restaurant has a wide array of selections and is family friendly with everyone being able to find something to enjoy. The restaurant is home to some of the best hamburgers in the region and also offers a wide selection of Italian. Of course, there are also plenty of Turkish dishes to enjoy as well.

Reservations are recommended at Bistro Blue where guests can sit inside or out and enjoy watching the crowds go by while sipping on a well-mixed drink or ice-cold beer. Known for its hamburgers, the food is always prepared fresh and made to order. This is also a great spot to come back to later in the evening for a nightcap.

As the only lounge boat in the city, it pays to take a trip on the Lemon Lounge. Guests are treated to expertly made meals, lounge music, well mixed drinks and more as they spend the day sailing the seas. There is even space to sunbathe on the top deck while enjoying a refreshing cocktail.
