During October, although the daily weather remains dry, hot and sunny, temperatures in Dahab begin to cool off significantly and many venues for entertainment and festivals start to re-open after a break over the hot summer months. However, the heat may still be too much for some, especially after significant exposure to the sun. Daytime temperatures reach an average maximum of 31 degrees, while the temperature typically falls to 23 degrees overnight. It is a good time of year for diving and snorkelling as sea temperatures average a balmy 27 degrees. Octobers are often rain-free, but rain falls on an average of one day, amounting to an average of 3mm per October. Bright sunshine is experienced for an average of 11 hours per day.
The annual Triple Depth Freediving Challenge, organised by Freedive Dahab, is held during October, in which people can compete against each other in freediving competitions and win prizes. Freedive Dahab also offer yoga, scuba diving and safari trips. Nearby accommodation is provided at the Canyon Estate Beach Hotel starting at reasonably low prices. The region is also close to the Canyon and Blue Hole dive sites, which are recommended for experienced divers.
For those who enjoy windsurfing as well as diving, the Lagoona region offers golden beaches and ample spots to go diving as well as windsurfing off the coastline, and due to the relatively moderate temperatures, October is a good time of year to chill out and sunbathe on the beaches.
