December is one of the three coolest months of the year in Dahab, but temperatures are nonetheless rather warm. Afternoon temperatures reach an average maximum of 23 degrees, and the temperature falls to around 15 degrees overnight. Sea temperatures average 24 degrees, which is high enough to provide good conditions for underwater activities. Rain falls on an average of one day, and the long-term December average is for 5mm of rain per month. Although a typical one or two-week holiday will end up rain-free, on the rare occasions that it does rain, heavy storms are possible. There is an average of 9 hours per day with bright sunshine which is rather in excess of the norm during a typical British summer.
Due to the comfortable temperatures, December is a popular time of year for entertainment and events. Visitors can, for example, take a Desert Adventure Tour through the White Canyon and Closed Canyon, and see the mushroom stone at the Wadi Ghazala. King Safari Dahab is a licensed and popular tour agency which provides custom trips, including camel and jeep safaris and diving, windsurfing and kite-surfing courses and activities. Dahab Safari Day Tours provide a good alternative, which include quad biking tours around the main sights of Dahab.
The Dahab Divers South Sinai Hotel & Dive Centre is a good source for cheap, yet high-quality, accommodation and diving facilities. Training is available for inexperienced divers, while experienced divers can dive untrained in association with the Dive Centre. Numerous safari trips, including camel trips, are also available, which include trips to the famous Coloured Canyon.
