July and August are the hottest months of the year in Dahab. During August, temperatures reach an average maximum of 37 degrees, and fall to an average overnight minimum of 28 degrees. Although low humidity and light breezes help to reduce the discomfort caused by the heat, it's advisable to not stay out in the sun for too long. Sea temperatures are generally stable at around 28 degrees during August, which makes diving and snorkelling a great option. Rainfall is extremely rare, with no rain at all during an average August. There is an average of 13 hours of bright sunshine per day.
The fasting season of Ramadan typically runs during late July and into early August in Dahab, and ends with Eid-ul-Fitr, a Muslim holiday marking the end of Ramadan, so for holidaymakers who do not observe Ramadan it may be advisable to go late rather than early during the month of August.

Lighthouse Reef in the north of Assalah offers spectacular reefs and good snorkelling and many and varied diving facilities, and for some cuisine, nearby is the Dai Pescatori Italian fish restaurant.
