What's the weather like in Costa Teguise in December
Costa Teguise, Spain, is a purpose built resort in Lanzarote designed to provide a luxurious haven for tourists. Although, the island does supplement with exporting locally grown products, especially potatoes and sweet onions. Costa Teguise Hotels in December
It's Christmas, so treat yourself to one of the most luxurious hotels in all of Costa Teguise. Hotel Coronas Playa is a four-star hotel overlooking Playa Bastian. All rooms offer views over the sea or the hotel's gardens and some come with private balconies and terraces. The rooms are set around the temperature controlled swimming pool and the pavilion, where there's a range of activities for the kids. Rooms here cost £98+ per night, but prices may rise over the festive period.
The Siroco Serenity Adults Only apartments in Costa Teguise are another pleasing option. The complex offers an outdoor swimming pool and is just a couple of minutes' walk from Cucharas Beach. Each apartment features a hob, microwave and useful coffee machine. If you're planning on making a Christmas dinner there is plenty of space to fit a small family, or another option would be to celebrate at one of the many restaurants in the area.
The three-star Mansion Nazaret is situated just 300m from Cucharas Beach and features it's very own outdoor pool, which you will be pleased to know is heated in winter. Each apartment is fitted with a flat-screen satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. The hotel also features a bar and restaurant, however, if you would rather go out in the evening or on Christmas day there are plenty of restaurants and cafes within close proximity.
Last but not least, the two-star Apartamentos Celeste offer a more affordable option while staying in Costa Teguise. The traditional Canarian style apartments offer well-equipped kitchenettes, private sun terraces, en suite bathrooms and TVs. The complex also provides an outdoor swimming pool which is open throughout the year and is within walking distance from the local beach.
Costa Teguise Beaches for December
Believe it or not, you can still sunbathe at this time of year as temperatures can still reach the low 20's. The Canary Islands are renowned for having spring like weather throughout the year.
Some of the best beaches to visit at this time of year are Las Cucharas and Famara Beach. Las Cucharas is the main beach in Costa Teguise and is popular all year round. The beach boasts over 640m of fine golden sands and is a favourite for local water sports enthusiasts. It's also conveniently located close to many hotels, cafes, restaurants and bars.
On the other hand, Famara Beach is even longer and is in fact the longest beach on the island. The beach is very popular with windsurfers at this time of year due to the strong winds.
Bars and Restaurants
December is a time to be merry and there's no better place to do this than Costa Teguise. With Christmas and New Year occurring this month, why not do a bit of bar hopping and discover the many venues in the town? Number One is a German-run cocktail bar with an outdoor terrace for enjoying the warm December heats, while The Irish Bailey offers a taste of Ireland near to the Playa de las Cucharas beach front. There's live music every night and music quizzes with great prizes to be won.
For dinner in a festive environment, reserve a table at Restaurant Cafe Nina which really gets you into the Christmas spirit. There's a range of cuisine available, such as potato pancakes, garlic prawns, Hungarian goulash and fish of the day. The restaurant is family friendly, with a special menu for children including favourites such as chicken nuggets and spaghetti.
Things to do in Costa Teguise in December
If you're stuck for something to do for a couple of hours, Pueblo Marinero square is always a popular option. Every Friday evening of the year from approximately 6pm the square comes alive with a market selling a variety of souvenirs, clothes and decorations. There are also a number of restaurants and cafes in the area where you can grab a drink and a spot of tapas. During Christmas time many shops and stalls are selling souvenirs, Christmas gifts and treats.
Another place to visit whilst staying in Costa Teguise is Arrecife, which is the capital and commercial centre of Lanzarote. This attractive city boasts a stunning harbour and fortress, which is now open as a museum. There are also plenty of shops in the city selling anything from souvenirs to clothes.
If this is your first time visiting Lanzarote you should definitely visit the Timanfaya National Park, it boasts a jaw dropping stretch of volcanic wasteland that stretches over 51 square kilometers. The Montanas del Fuego "Fire Mountains" are believed to have been created between 1730 and 1736 when more than 100 volcanoes rose up from beneath the ground and devastated this part of the island. There are a number of tour operators and providers on the island that offer excursions to this mesmerizing natural spot. December is a very busy month for Costa Teguise and the rest of Lanzarote. On December 6th, the island commemorates Dia de la Constitucion (Constitution Day). The day celebrates the Spanish constitutional referendum in 1978 and is marked as a public holiday meaning many businesses may be closed on this day.
On December 8th La Inmaculada Concepcion (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) is celebrated in the Roman Catholic calendar. The day is one of the most important Marian feasts celebrated in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church, which means special services usually take place in most churches in Lanzarote.
Sometimes in December there is a Christmas Market at Pueblo Marinero in Costa Teguise selling souvenirs, crafts, food and much more. If you are interested in doing a spot of Christmas shopping whilst in Costa Teguise it is best to look out for posters as dates tend to vary every year.
