What's the weather like in Costa Teguise in August

Costa Teguise, Spain, is located just 10 miles up the coast from Lanzarote's capital, Arrecife. Arrecife airport is one of the busiest in the Canary Islands, seeing roughly 5.5 million travellers pass through each year. The small town of Costa Teguise was specifically built nearby to take some of the strain off the capital in terms of tourism, and is today one of the most popular and lively resorts on the island.

Mid summer brings some of the nicest weather of the year so far in Costa Teguise. With air temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C, and sea temperatures averaging around 23°C, August is considered to be one of the hottest months of the year in this Lanzarote town. Apartamentos Galeon Playa is a three-star resort located right next to Jablillo Beach, also known as Costa Teguise Beach. This holiday complex offers four pools, a buffet restaurant, a la carte restaurant and poolside snack bar. The resort is excellent for young families as there is an entertainment team which organizes shows and sporting activities throughout the week. There is also a games room and children's play area, as well as water sports at the local beach including windsurfing and scuba diving.

On the other hand, the Beatriz Costa & Spa is a four-star hotel located in a tranquil and secluded area of Costa Teguise. The hotel offers a number of facilities including tennis courts, mini golf, salt water swimming pools and three restaurants. There is also a free daily shuttle service to Las Cucharas Beach, the main beach in Costa Teguise.

The four-star Barcelo Lanzarote Resort is located just 350m from the local sandy beach and offers a wealth of activities and facilities to guests of all ages including tennis courts, a wellness centre, hot tub, gym and five swimming pools, some of which even feature water slides. Costa Teguise Beach for August

In the high heats of August, a trip to one of Costa Teguise's five natural beaches is called for. Playa Cucharas is the main beach and is always busy, bustling, and lively, while those looking for a quieter stretch of sand may prefer Playa Los Charcos. For the best swimming conditions, head to Playa Jablillo, although for facilities such as toilets, showers, and sun loungers, Playa Bastian is a better option. To get away from the main tourism, Playa Ancla, a little further out from the town centre, is a hidden gem just off the beaten track.

Bars and Restaurants

Divina Italia brings a touch of Italy to the Canary Islands, with its authentic Italian inspired menu. Cold meat platters, fresh fish, calzones, and a range of desserts are available here every evening from Monday to Saturday. It's a busy little eatery, so reservations are recommended, but the restaurant makes this easy with an online reservation service through their website.

El Charcon is a beautiful beachfront seafood restaurant in Costa Teguise that serves locally caught fresh fish. They have a wide variety of different types of fish on offer including prawns, octopus and mussels, however, if you are not that big of a fan of fish they also serve chicken or steak options. On a beautiful summers day or evening you may want to ask for a table outside.

Jesters Bar is one of the most popular, and well visited, bars in Costa Teguise. This English-run establishment is especially popular during the early hours, as it's one of the only bars in Costa Teguise that remains open until 4 am. There's a nightly DJ and dance floor, as well as a relaxed area with widescreen TVs showing live sporting events and even a karaoke bar with a collection of songs in English, Spanish and German. As well as beers, ciders, wines, and cocktails, this place is also known for its range of shots, including the unique 'Jester Cake'.

Hook is a very popular café and bar situated in Costa Teguise which is the ideal place to go to if you are here with the whole family and are looking for a quiet drink in the evening. The bar serves a wide variety of cocktails with impressive sparklers, however, for the younger ones they also offer a range of mocktails to try!

Things to do in Costa Teguise in August

There are numerous water sports and diving centres in and around Costa Teguise so it can often be difficult to pick the right one. The Volcano Surf School is a highly rated professional surfing school in Costa Teguise that offers lessons in surfing and surfboard hire throughout the year for all abilities.

On the other hand, the Native Diving Centre in Costa Teguise offers PADI diving courses off the coast of the popular resort. Costa Teguise offers some of the best conditions for scuba diving on the whole island due to the clean clear waters, which allow you to discover a variety of native marine life and reefs.

Another great way to discover the islands natural offerings is by booking a tour with the Lanzarote Active Club. The club offers unique hiking excursions around the island of Lanzarote where you can learn about local wildlife and plant life, as well as the island's interesting volcanic history.

Raven's Volcano (Volcan del Cuevo) is one of Lanzarote's most popular natural attractions. The volcano is easily accessibly by foot, there is also a small car park close to the volcano which is useful if you have hired out a car for the duration of your stay. Make sure to bring plenty of water with you, some walking shoes and sun cream as it can get very hot during August.

Dia San Gines is an annual week-long festival that takes place at the end of August throughout Lanzarote, honouring the patron saint of the island San Gines. The best festivities are usually held in the capital of Arrecife.
