What's the weather like in Costa Dorada in June?

June in Costa Dorada ushers in the dry season for the region. This is also a great time to visit as there is very little chance to run into a stray shower and temperatures are warm enough to enjoy the myriad of outdoor activities without needing a jacket or raingear.

Temperature

Temperatures both on land and sea are climbing during this time of the year with visitors now being able to leave any winter weather gear at home. Temperatures will start off first thing in the morning with an average overnight low of 17°C (63°F). This is significantly warmer than temperatures that were seen during the winter months. In the afternoon, temperatures rise quickly to an average of 26°C (79°F). With this being the first month of summer, temperatures are certainly beginning to reflect the season. Overall, the average daytime temperature is a mild 22°C (71°F).

Sunshine Hours

During the month, visitors are also treated to a whopping 14 hours of sunshine each day. Combined with only a 20 percent chance of rain and a 100 percent chance of a sunny day, this month can be considered a high time to visit the region. Overall, the area will receive only 10mm of precipitation for the month. This rain will fall over a period of only two days and be very light in nature. As a result, vacationers can expect glorious weather for their trip. Of course, a quick check of the extended forecast before leaving home is still a good idea.

Hotel Mas la Boella is a boutique hotel located on a 110-hectre estate of olive trees and gardens. The estate is located just ten minutes from the beaches of Costa Dorada as well as historical sites and golf courses. The property includes a winery, restaurant, gift shop and olive oil mill. Guests can take advantage of numerous activities including wine tasting, tours of the estate and much more.

Altafulla Mar Hotel

The Altafulla Mar Hotel is a brand new 4-star hotel built for families in the heart of the region. The hotel boasts an outdoor pool, kid's pool and miniclub, gardens as well as a buffet, grill and gastro bar. All 136 rooms come with a terrace and are fully equipped.

Beaches in Costa Dorada

Waikiki

Waikiki is not just found in Hawaii, but in Spain, too. Visitors to this beach can choose to lose all their clothing or keep on a few stiches. This beach features a natural cove and is a great place for some rest and relaxation. Bus lines 9 and 1E will drop visitors off within walking distance of the sand and surf. Water temperatures have also climbed to 20°C (68°) allowing visitors the chance to try out the water.

Bars and Restaurants

The Guinness Tavern

Consistently named the best restaurant in the region, The Guinness Tavern should be at the top of any tourist's must do list. Established in 1994, this popular spot fills up fast and reservations are recommended. The menu includes such items as pub classics, steaks, salads, pasta and even vegetarian dishes. Guests can choose to sit indoors or out and either way, enjoy a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Palm Tree

Located in Salou, The Palm Tree is a five star establishment that is worth an evening out. With first class service, drinks and food, the restaurant also offers good-sized portions at reasonable prices. The establishment itself is welcoming to adults as well as to children and there is plenty on the menu for any guest to enjoy.

Danny Boy Bar and Food House

In operation since 2003, Danny Boy Bar and Food House is a great place to spend a late evening enjoying some drinks and late evening grub. There are also two shows a night for those who would like to see a little live entertainment while visiting the area. 

Things to do in Costa Dorada in June

Port Aventura

Located in the heart of Costa Dorada, vacationers can take advantage of dry conditions for the month of June by visiting Port Aventura Park. The park is made up of five areas with distinct themes based on different civilizations including Mediterrania, Far West, Mexico, China and Polynesia. An additional area based on Sesame Street was opened in 2011. Visitors can experience the thrill of roller coasters, go shopping and enjoy a wide array of food. Additionally, there are numerous shows that take place throughout the day that provide plenty of family friendly entertainment.

Corpus Christi

This time of the year is also a great one to visit due to the number of parties in the region. Throughout the month, there are a number of fiestas and June is known as the month of "giant and midget dances".  Head for Torredembarra where it is a particularly joyous month for the people because of their Corpus Christi celebrations.  Witness the l'ou com balla or "egg dances" at the Torredembarra Cathedral.

St. John's Day

On the 23rd of the month, every part of Catalonia, actually every part of Spain, celebrates St. John's Day with fireworks and bonfires.  The Bonfires of St. John in Alicante is said to have the largest celebration.  In the region, on the eve of June 23, the sky will be glowing with fireworks and there will be much merrymaking in the beaches while visitors are warmed by the lighted bonfires.
