Weather Lowdown

Although the weather is amazing this time of year, April is one of the quieter months in Costa del Silencio and the rest of Tenerife. The most popular times to visit this sun-soaked and dry destination are during the winter and summer seasons. Anyone looking for a relatively peaceful spring holiday is encouraged to come here at this time of year.

The weather is pleasantly warm throughout the whole year. In April, visitors can enjoy afternoons that are 22°C warm on average. Even at night, the mercury doesn't fall below the average low temperature of 16°C. It won't be necessary to pack coats and jackets when visiting Costa del Silenciony time of the year. The overall average temperature is 19°C, which is the same as it was in March. May will be one degree warmer. While it might be too cold to swim for the majority of visitors, the sea temperature of 20°C could actually be comfortable enough for the hardier. It's recommended to visit in summer, though, if a beach vacation is what you are after. Spring is ideal for other outdoor activities, most notably cycling and hiking.

April, like basically every other month, is superbly dry in this resort. There is no more than 7mm of rainfall in total, which falls on merely 3 days with rainfall. There are 27 days that are completely dry! The chance of experiencing rainfall on any given day this time of year ranges around 8%. Cloud cover is similarly lowainfall and cloud cover are factors that are related, after allnd the chance of a cloudy day is about 7%. The most likely types of rainfall to be experienced are drizzle and moderate rain, which occur respectively on 41% and 30% of the days with precipitation. Where to Stay

Consider staying at the Sunset View Club in San Miguel de Arona. This stunning resort chose its name appropriately, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the beach. Guests are able to bask in the sun all day long in April, whether it is on the beach or at the resort's pool. Additionally, there is a mini-golf course, an outdoor pool, plenty of sports to enjoy, and even a nearby golf course and shopping area.

In Playa de las Americas, you might want to check out the three-star Kn Columbus Aparthotel. This complex offers accommodation in apartments with full kitchens and has free Wi-Fi, a car rental service, a buffet restaurant, a beauty salon, a wellness centre and an outdoor pool.

The Best Hotel Tenerife is also in Playa de las Americas and lies just 350 metres from the beach. This is a great hotel as well, featuring everything from bars and a snack bar, to an outdoor swimming pool with waterfall, to entertainment programs and a fitness centre.

Things to Do

A wonderful way to end a day on your April vacation is catching a show at the iconic Piramide de Arona. This is one of the largest auditoriums on the island, its capacity being more than 1,600. If you want to see some real Flamenco, there is hardly a better place in Tenerife than this one. This is the home base of the dance company founded by Carmen Mota, who is an internationally renowned artist and choreographer focusing on traditional Spanish dances.

In Costa del Silencio itself, you should definitely visit the Bathers Fountain, which is considered to be one of the most striking fountains in Tenerife. This collection of statues, partially submerged in water, is almost surreal definite must-see spot in the resort.

Hit the Beach

With a sea water temperature that averages 20°C, this might not yet be the ideal time for dips in the ocean. Sunbathing, however, is definitely possible in April, particularly toward the end of the month. Although there is no beach in Costa del Silencio itself, you can find one in neighbouring Las Galletas. This beach consists of pebbles, though, so bring a padded mat to sit or lie on. This is a popular diving and snorkelling site, the most notable site being Los Chuchos with its sting rays, eels, scorpion fish and parrotfish.

Eating and Drinking Out

Monkey Bravo! Italia Restaurant is a superb Italian restaurant. Open for lunch and dinner, this is a suggested place to go for pizzas and pastas, seafood and fish. You can also just wind down with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine or cocktail at the restaurant's beautiful Tuscan-style piazza.

Another fun place to go for a bite to eat is Rste. Mexicano in Las Galletas. This laidback and welcoming eating venue is where you can enjoy typical Mexican dishes, such as enchiladas, tacos and quesadillas. They serve drinks, from cocktails to beers, as well.

One of the great beach clubs in this part of Tenerife Papagayo Beach Club, is located in Costa Adeje. This exclusive club is set right on a private beach and offers exquisite food and casual drinks during the day, and becomes a happening nightclub in the evening. It consists of two floors, five bars, beachside terraces and private sections that can be rented for even more exclusivity.
