Things to do in Costa Caleta in January
Mueso de la Sal
Before it was a tourist destination, Fuerteventura was a major hub for salt. With the cooler daytime temperatures, January is a good time to tour the Museo de la Sal, or Salt Museum, as well as the El Carmen Salt Pans. Located just south of Caleta de Fuste, the museum explores the history of and modern importance of salt. The salt pans are still in use, so you can view the process of mining salt during your visit.
African Market
The African market in Caleta de Fuste is an open-air shopping market selling locally-made goods. It's a great place to find interesting artwork, jewelry, home décor and other souvenirs to remember your trip to the island of Fuerteventura. It's also a great place to meet and talk to the native people that call the area home.
Brujula Rent
Another way to see the island is on motorized scooters rented from Brujula Rent a Scooter. You can rent the scooters on your own or use the company's tour guides to take you on a trip around the area. The scooters come as one and two-seaters and all rentals include a helmet for your safety.
