On average, August is the hottest month of the year in the Costa BravaSpain, when the temperatures are high, the sky is clear and sunshine is practically guaranteed every single day. As well as being the hottest month, August is also usually the busiest month of the year for the region, when families and couples from around the world travel to visit the Costa Brava.

Temperature

During this month, the average temperature for the area starts off at 24°C on August 1st and slowly drops until it reaches 22°C by August 31st. Daily highs and lows change in the same way, falling from 30°C to 28°C and from 18°C to 16°C, respectively, as the month develops.

Things to do in Costa Brava in August

 Mare de Deu del Socors Chapel Mare

The Chapel of Mare de Deu del Socors is one of the most-visited attractions in Tossa de Mar. Unusually located within the village's main shopping area, this small chapel features a basic white exterior, topped with a simple bell tower and cross. The inside of the church is just as simple and features white walls, a small number of wooden pews and a religious statue behind the altar.

Built in the 18th century, this church provides the perfect place to take a tranquil break away from the hustle and bustle of the busy summer village.

The Citadel in Roses 

If you visit Roses during your holiday in Costa Brava, take the time to visit the Citadel. This well-preserved historic site is made up of gardens full of wild flowers and an ancient castle which is in superb condition, considering how old it is.

You can choose to explore the site yourself, finding out various bits of information from the detailed plaques provided throughout the citadel or sign up for a guided tour if you want more of an immersive experience. Although there is a small entry fee to pay, it's worth it for the chance to visit such an impressive site.

Gardens in Costa Brava 

Costa Brava is home to a number of gardens, one of the most popular of which is the Pinya de Rosa. Located in Blanes, these gardens feature all sorts of exotic and local flora and fauna, including palm trees, cacti, parrots, donkeys and peacocks. There are various pathways throughout the park which will guide you past everything there is to see if you follow them. Due to its small size, you can probably work your way around the gardens within one hour, making it a suitable activity for adults with small children who get bored easily. You'll find a vending machine and café within the gardens where you can purchase food and drinks, as well as a shop where you can buy various types of plants.

Water Sports in August in Costa Brava
