Local cuisine

Situated in San Eugenio Alto, El Rincón La Abu boasts an extensive Canarian menu specialising in fresh fish and seafood dishes. Thanks to its elevated location, this popular restaurant offers fantastic views across the resort stretching out to sea, which is reason enough to visit. There are menus available in several languages, including English, and the staff are more than happy to explain any dishes to you or make recommendations.

Modern European

When it comes to modern European dining, Coeur de Filet is one of the best places to go. Established since 2003, this eatery creates dishes influenced by Italian, French and Spanish chefs, ensuring something to please everyone. Some of the most popular choices are the red beet Carpaccio with goat cheese, paupiettes of sole and venison fillet with a red wine reduction. There is also a great selection of homemade desserts available, including white chocolate mousse and walnut brownies.

Striving to provide diners with fresh, healthy and tasty cuisine, Restaurante La Nonna comes highly recommended by almost everyone. Here you'll find traditional Mediterranean food, with Italian, Greek, Spanish and French influences, resulting in a menu which is hard to beat. To accompany the food there is a large selection of international wines available, with some of Tenerife's most popular bottles.

Perfect for diners of all ages, Mario's Restaurante is great value for money and offers something to put a smile on the face of even the fussiest eater. This eatery boasts an extensive menu with dishes from all over Europe, many of which have been heavily influenced by Italy. Diners can opt for anything from homemade pizzas, calzones and pastas to grilled meats, fried fish and vegetarian options. Families dining with little ones will be pleased with the children's menu, which features a number of popular favourites, such as fish fingers and chicken nuggets, as well as smaller portions of items from the regular menu.

Open from 10.30am until midnight, Rosso Sul Mare in La Caleta offers a fantastic seafront setting, a stylish atmosphere and an extensive menu, with something for everyone. Although the food is predominantly Italian-influenced, there are many other contemporary European dishes on offer, including meat-, fish- and rice-based dishes, as well as plenty of salads, pastas and pizzas. If you've left room for dessert, you can choose from a number of sweets, such as ice cream, tiramisu, pannacotta and a variety of sorbets.

Tapas

Tapas is a traditional dish of the Canary Islands and not many do it better than Restaurante Sebastian. Located in Torviscas Bajo, this eatery offers an extensive menu, with meat- and fish-based dishes, pizzas and side orders available. The house speciality is certainly the tapas, which come in a variety of forms, including mixed cheese and meats, homemade pate, fried baby squid, spinach with chorizo and pear-filled ravioli.

Asian

By far one of the best Indian restaurants in Tenerife, Bombay Babu offers a vast array of authentic Indian starters, mains and desserts, each cooked to order. Diners can choose from bhajis, samosas, pakoras and kebabs to start, followed by more than 20 different curries for main courses. Each curry can be made with a variety of meat, fish and vegetables, as well as soy meat and paneer cheese, ensuring something to suit everyone.

If you're in the mood for some traditional Indian food, stop by Torviscas Spice Village. Each dish is cooked to order and the chef will happily add more chillies if you like it hot, or omit them completely if you're not a fan of heat. Here you'll find all your favourite curry-based dishes such as kormas, bhunas and tandooris, accompanied by the ever popular rice sides, naan bread and chapattis.

Pub grub

When it comes to pub grub, it doesn't get much better than the dishes served at the Sun Inn. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this small restaurant offers a menu packed with popular British favourites, such as full-English breakfasts, filled baguettes, toasties, cottage pie, chicken tikka, battered fish and steaks with homemade sauces. There is also a great selection of affordable drinks available, including beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, cocktails and sangria.

For a cheap and cheerful pub grub-style meal out, look no further than the Winchester. Here you'll find a comprehensive a la carte menu available, as well as a selection of children's options and a very reasonably priced three-course set menu which changes regularly. With such a vast selection of meals available including steaks, fajitas, BBQ ribs, roast dinners and pasta there's bound to be something for everyone.

Seafood

Seafood lovers won't want to miss the chance to spend an evening at Odissea Restaurant. Situated in Puerto Colon, this eatery offers a number of tempting fish dishes, including seared tuna steaks, fried calamari, grilled swordfish and garlic prawns. Not only a place for avid seafood fans, Odissea Restaurant also offers a selection of vegetarian and meat-based dishes which are sure to please everyone.

Regarded as one of the very best seafood restaurants in Tenerife, La Vieja is a must-visit. Boasting a seafront location, this eatery serves freshly-caught fish and seafood, such as clams, king prawns, mussels, pollock and sea bream. You'll also find a small children's menu available, as well as several house specialities which are large enough to feed two people.

Masia del Mar is a top pick for those who want to indulge in freshly prepared seafood. Proudly boasting its very own fishing fleet, this restaurant employs fishermen who catch the seafood and fish which is then cooked in the restaurant on the same day.
