Things to do in Costa Adeje in August

Dolphin Spotting

Whale and dolphin spotting sailing trips are not to be missed, especially if you're travelling with the family. These trips are often the highlight of a holiday. Both Puerto Colon and nearby Los Christianos are home to the mammals and a cruise to these areas will mean you're more likely to spot one. Royal Delfin is one company who offers these cruises and will even allow for a stop off to swim with dolphins. Whale and dolphin spotting onboard the Royal Delfin is one of the most popular excursions in Tenerife.

This trip departs from the harbour at Puerto Colon, where you'll board a large catamaran staffed by experienced guides who will tell you all about local marine life and environment conservation whilst at sea. The vessel features two sections below sea level where you'll have the chance to see some of the 19 different species of cetaceans which reside in the waters around Tenerife, including bottle nosed dolphins and pilot whales. There are three different itineraries on offer which cover different areas and lengths of time.

Segway Tour

If you'd prefer something closer to the ground, how about a Segway tour? A new and eco-friendly way to explore Tenerife, these tours leave from Playa de Las Americas where an instructor will give you some basic training on how to operate the Segway before you start your journey. There are three trips available 40 minutes, 60 minutes and 120 minutes each of which is surprisingly affordable and takes in different parts of the resort. As well as the Segway tours, this company also hires out electric bikes which you can use to explore Tenerife at your own pace.

Generally, August 14-15th marks the Festival of the Virgin of Candelaria, the patron saint of the Canary Islands. The festivities last for two days and encompass a wide array of religious and traditional events taking place in the town of Canelaria, located in Tenerife's north east coast.
