French political leader Napolean Bonaparte was born and raised on the island and was famously noted to say: "On Corsica I was given life, and with that life I was also given a fierce love for this my ill-starred homeland". Tourists can find out more about him and his family and see how they lived, as the house has been preserved as it would have looked back then.
