May Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's The Weather Like In Cornwall In May

April showers will bring May flowers and that is certainly the case in and around Cornwall. During this time of the year, the flowers are in full bloom and with trees beginning to bud, everything is fresh and green. As a result, this is one of the more popular times of the year to visit the region. Because of this, be prepared to pay slightly higher prices and also deal with longer lines at some restaurants and area attractions.

Rain

While no month is completely dry in the region, this time of the year continues to be one of the drier times with only 60mm of precipitation expected. Additionally, the number of days seeing measurable rainfall drops off. On average, the region has 18 days with at least some shower or thunderstorm activity during the month. While visitors don't want to leave the rain gear at home, this is significantly less rain than in seen over the winter months when almost the entire month records rainfall.

Sunshine Hours

There is also more sun for visitors to enjoy during this time of the year. On average, the region will receive 10 hours of sunshine per day. Any showers and thunderstorms that do appear, likely do so during the evening hours allowing for the sun during the daytime.

Temperature

Therefore, temperatures take a big jump with the average daily high of 14°C (57°F).  The average overnight low is also much warmer with temperatures bottoming out at 8°C (46°F). Overall, the daily temperature is a more pleasant 11°C (52°F).

Sea Temperature

Water temperatures remain too cold to be enjoyed, but warmer water conditions are just around the corner. During this time of the year, however, surface temperatures are still a chilly 11°C (52°F). Water temperatures are always slower to warm and cool off than those on land so it will be another month or two before visitors can enjoy all that the local beaches have to offer.
