Many holidays enjoyed in Corfu
Review by: Helen Benjamins
Weather
If you like being energetic on holiday, walking, bike riding and canoeing etc then go for June or September.
May is also pleasant weather but season hasn't started so very little, if anything, is going on or open.
If it's total maximum suntan weather that you require, the sort that leaves you exhausted without moving, then go for July and August.
I have been to Corfu in all of these months and I have never seen rain there.Holiday
Kavos has given Corfu the reputation of a teenagers drinking paradise and it's true, if you are young, free and single and love to drink and party, then this is your kind of place.
On the other hand........
For a small island, Corfu has managed to contain the above bit to Kavos only.
Having holidayed all over the world I can honestly say, hand on heart, that if I only could choose one place to ever visit again it would be Corfu.
The beaches are beautiful from the quiet, peaceful Paleokastritsa with it's three little coves where, despite looking, we've yet to find a shell without a crab in it.
The view looking down on the bays is spectacular and the subject of many postcards.
To the clear, warm waters that are found in Dassia with it's long beaches of white sand and home to all of the watersport activities you could want.
Dassia is an ideal location should you not want to drive. There are numerous boat trips to be had from here and the local bus will take you almost anywhere on the island.
It has great beaches, a lovely selection of restaurants and a pleasant stroll along the main road through Dassia will take you past a variety of shops all open until late.
Corfu town is a myriad of cobbled streets full of interesting little shops and quite a few churches. Between the shopping area and the port is the main square. The square itself actually isn't square but a long rectangle by day, usually housing the local cricket team and the horse and carriages, decked out in flowery finery, waiting to tour you around the town.
By night the 'square' houses lots of seating areas where the elders sit, passing the time away either chatting or quite often taking grandchildren to ride on the little electric cars which for a small charge can be hired.
Between here and the shopping centre is a kind of promenade but without the sea. It is a hugely popular walkway with the square on one side and restaurants and cafe's on the other.
Inland remains unspoilt and mostly farmed land providing fruit and vegetables for everyone.
Olive groves are abundant everywhere as are groves of lemon and orange trees.
Every now and then there will be a little church, always open and offering cool, quiet shade to those in need.
It takes some courage to drive on the roads in Corfu mainly due to hairpin bends and steep unprotected drops found in higher regions, that and the fact that, in the more rural areas, street lighting doesn't seem to exist.
I would recommend that anyone considering a holiday on this island, read 'My Family and Other Animals' by Gerald Durrell.
The island and its people have changed very little since he grew up here.Recommend Corfu Town to others?

brilliant

Weather
Weather was brilliant, the sun was out by 10o'clock and didn't go in until 7ish. It was 30 degrees most days, couldn't of asked for better weather. We stayed at Kavos beach a 5min walk from the main strip. We stayed in a lovely hotel which was very clean and the staff were great, the food is all cooked from fresh and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend Kavos beach.
Holiday
We stayed in Kavos there was a group of 12 girls. We went for sunbathing during the day and the nightlife was great. Kavos is a very rundown place and dirty in some places, especially the beach, we stayed well clear after our first visit. I woudn't recommend Kavos for families or older people as it is very much a party island for ages 18-25 im only 27 and felt a bit old. If you want to party all night and relax by the pool all day then i would highly recommend Kavos.

rhoda
Review by: Yvonne Robson
Weather
the weather was beautiful with light breezes in the mountains or the high pints on the island the sun as anywhere can be fierce so cover up and the evenings are uncomfortable in high season but not unreasonably so
Holiday
the holiday was great the food was great and yes we had a great time the people are very friendly and it is nice to see the way they look after the more mature citizens of the family. The whole of the island is beautiful though Paleocastritza is hilly and not for disabled persons who will find it difficult to get around. It is as well to remember that there are very few roads and pavements are nonexistent here and the toilet paper has to go in the bin not down the loo but your holiday will more than compensate in other ways for these minor differences. Have a great time we have been back 3 times

Weather
the weather varied quite a lot from end september to end of season, but other than that the weather could get hot, really hot. in july the weather reached around 50-51 degrees. no joke.but other than that, it mainly stayed 30-45 degrees, which was hot and humid, but fantastic to get a tan!
Holiday
i worked in corfu, and my experience was that fantastic i didnt want to come home! plenty for everyone to do, kids to elderly, trips available for everyone, and great shopping centres and sight seeing too.
