Kanoni is separated from Corfu Town proper by a lagoon, a perfect setting for idyllic views.
Corfu Beaches in February
The best beaches in Corfu aren't in Corfu Town, but easily accessible by bus or car, just twenty minutes away from the city centre. If you have an afternoon, head over to Myrtiotissa, a tiny cove on Corfu's scenic west coast. Though popular in peak season, in February the 150 feet beach makes for a restful getaway. While you're there, be sure to check out the 14th century monastery located 300m uphill.
Things to do in Corfu in February
Cheese-Eating Sunday is a festival in mid-February. It's a colourful festival of parades and floats, loud music and dancing, which takes place in the centre of Corfu Town. The day marks the approaching Lenten season and you should avoid eating meat.
The following day is 'Clean Monday'. The partying continues but instead of eating cheese, bread, cuttlefish and squid are the order of the day.
The main square in the centre of Corfu Town is known as the Splanada This area is surrounded by French architecture and plays host to musical concerts throughout the year.
If you want to cram as much sightseeing as you can into one day, you should book on a sightseeing tour. You'll be taken around the historical town visiting the Cathedral, the old and New Fortresses, the Byzantine Museum and the Royal Palace of Saint George and Saint Michael. There's even time at the end to do some shopping in the Old Town.
