What's the Weather Like in Copenhagen in April
April sees the first signs of milder weather as spring season begins to get underway in Copenhagen. With warmer temperatures, makes a good time to visit and avoid the summer crowds that usually descend on the city. Things to do in Copenhagen in April
Amalienborg Palace
Facing the waterfront, the Amalienborg Palace is a must-visit for anyone with an interest in royal history and heritage. Home to the world's oldest monarchy, the Danish Royal Family still reside within the palace and you can witness the changing of the guards, which takes place every day at noon. A special procession at the palace takes place on the 16th of April each year to mark the birthday of Queen Margrethe.
Spanning from the main square of the palace, four identical buildings come together to illustrate its history, Within this complex you'll find the Amalienborg Museum, which illustrates the last 150 years of the palace and Royal Family.
Kastellet
Another historic sight within the vicinity that's worth visiting is the star-shaped Kastellet (The Citadel), which dates back to the 1600s. Known for its grassy parkland, ramparts, quaint barrack buildings and historic windmill, this makes a great place to take a stroll as the weather becomes more favourable during this time of the year. Within the grounds of the fortress you'll notice St. Alban's Church, which was built in the 1800s to signify the sizeable English community living in Denmark at the time.
Nyboder
Slightly off the beaten track, but within close range to the two other historic sights is Nyboder, a finely-preserved row of terraces that used to house seafaring Danes and their families.
