CocoCay is a favourable destination for all holiday makers that travel to the islands of the Bahamas. Even though CocoCay experiences very hot tropical climates; the weather throughout this region is not always perfect. Nevertheless, this shall not spoil ones vacation; with the many indoor and outdoor activities that are available.
CocoCay experiences an average of 320 days of sunshine per year. With benefits from this much sun, temperatures are guaranteed to stay warm and pleasant and the sea is ideal for swimming all year round. This typical weather is idyllic for relaxing beach holidays and water sport leisureâs, however it is not too hot that it discourages tourists from discovering the beautiful surroundings that CocoCay has to offer.
CocoCay benefits from a subtropical climate with hot, humid and rainy summers and mild and relatively dry winters. CocoCay weather is subject to its own appeal; therefore visiting in peak season can at times be very crowded and sometimes the temperatures can be intolerable. Winter and throughout the off season is recommended as the best time to vacation as the region is less crowded and the average climates are at their most enjoyable.
Average annual temperatures throughout CocoCay range between 26ºC to 27ºC, with sea temperatures never dropping below 22ºC. Similar to the weather in Florida; the surrounding area of CocoCay is subject to occasional cold fronts that tend to drop the temperature to quite an extent throughout the winter months. The Gulf Stream and the continuous trade winds are distinctive features throughout CocoCay that influence the climate to stay regular throughout the year.
Although not as busy as the summer months; winter in Cococay still sees a lot of visitors enjoying the mild and dryer climates. December to May sees temperatures ranging from 25ºC to 27ºC throughout the day and 18ºC to 24ºC after nightfall. Again, the constant and pleasurable sea breeze helps the climate stay restful. Rainfall during the winter months is also minimal averaging at around 40mm per month.
The subtropical and tropical climate of CocoCay creates a pleasing vacation all year round. Even during the rainy season from May to November; which is typically summer. September; being the wettest month of the year, still sees an average of seven hours of sunshine per day. Temperatures throughout summertime will see highs of 32ºC and lows of 24ºC. Rainfall is also very high during these months ranging anywhere between 120mm to 220mm.
Alike most countries in the Caribbean; Cococay and the region of the Bahamas are prone to hurricanes. The hurricane season starts in the late summer or early autumn, and even though the Bahamas region is only affected around every three years, it is always a good idea to be prepared if youâre travelling to this region throughout these months.
