What's the Weather like in Cayo Coco in September
September may mark the beginning of autumn in Europe yet in Cayo Coco it is still hot and humid, much like it has been since June. The average temperature will still be 28°C with highs still reaching 32°C and the night time averages not going below 23°C. It makes no difference at what time of this month you decide to visit Cayo Coco as the averages will remain quite consistent throughout.
September may fall right in the middle of wet season in Cuba, yet thunderous storms are usually intense but short-lived. The risk of hurricanes is still quite minimal at this time, so although activities like scuba diving are not as rewarding, due to often stormy seas, there will still plenty of water-based activities you can enjoy. Nevertheless, you'd be wise to purchase hurricane insurance for additional peace of mind.
In theory, it should be getting slightly cooler as the month progresses, yet this is often not the case. The amount of daily sunshine will still be 9 hours and the only slight change will be in average sea temps, which will rise to 30°C, instead of the 29°C which has been a constant in the previous three months. Your main concern in September will be the UV index, which is at its yearly maximum. No matter how overcast it may seem, do keep that in mind and use plenty of sunscreen.
An average rainfall of 157 mm over 13 days is the expected norm for September. Be sure to pack light, breathable clothes for your trip and make sure your hotel has air conditioning as the humidity levels at this time are at their peak.
