What's the Weather like in Cayo Coco in June

June brings about a definite change in the weather patterns of Cayo Coco. This month marks not only the start of the hottest season, but also the wettest and the one most prone to hurricanes. Yet if all that sounds too negative, rest assured that the real picture is never as bad as that may sound. You will certainly experience heavy downpours and a marked increase in humidity in June, but storms are usually as short lived as they are intense, leaving you with plenty of daily sunshine hours to do all that you plan, and more.

Moreover, as this is considered low-season, you'll score some quite remarkable deals on the more luxurious resorts. If you have plenty of holiday time up your sleeve, plan to spend at least 10 days in this incredibly gorgeous island and you'll find that time spent indoors due to heavy rains, will be a mere portion of your entire stay.

The temperatures in June tend to hover between 23°C (at their night-time low) up to a sweltering 32°C during daytime.  Typically, the average temperature is 28°C and will continue to be so throughout the subsequent summer months. In fact, for the next three months, you may not feel any changes at all, as summer is by far the most constant season of all.

The average rainfall will swell to 130 mm over 12 days in June, making it one of the wettest months in Cayo Coco. The increase in cool breezes, thanks to the island's position close to the Tropic of Cancer, can bring much welcomed relief from the intense summer heat. June also boasts 10 hours of daily sunshine, the most you'll enjoy at any time of year. Given that your days will be long and hot, and that the average water temps will also rise to 29°C, you will still have plenty of chances to enjoy and indulge in all the marvellous outdoor activities for which Cayo Coco is so well known.

This resort is especially suitable for those on a tight budget as it is one of the more affordable 4* choices in Cayo Coco.

On the other end of the luxury scale is where you'll find the Melia Cayo Coco resort, undoubtedly one of the finer accommodation choices in Cayo Coco. The Hotel Laguna features 7 varied restaurants and 4 great bars to enjoy.  Guests can choose from eateries specialising in seafood, as well as Italian, Cuban, or steak grill specialties, as well as the ubiquitous international buffet.  There are 4 bars as well: an aqua bar, beach bar, grill bar and a lobby bar that is open 24/7.  The grill bar serves lunch during the day and opens into a disco at night. The hotel also features a room dedicated to one of the finer aspects of Cuban culture. The Habano Cigar Lounge allows you to relax, unwind and savour a fine Habano cigar.

Many of these fine establishments have a cult following in Cayo Coco, even among guests of other resorts, so we suggest you book your tables as soon as you arrive to avoid disappointment. The most popular by far are La Terrazza, which serves authentic Italian delicacies, and Las Caletas, whose distinctive cuisine, and lagoon side location, makes it the most romantic restaurant in the whole resort.

Things to do in Cayo Coco in June

Scuba diving is not to be dismissed in June, even though the random storms may make for less-than-ideal visibility.

There are two dive centres on Cayo Coco, one is in the Tryp Cayo Coco Resort, and the other at Melia Cayo Coco. Both agencies are run by the Cuban Government and both employ the same team of experienced and professional divers. Both centres offer open diving courses, as well as refresher, diver stress and rescue, search and recover and snorkelling courses as well.

Want to find something to do in rainy days? Then look no further than Acuavida Spa Talaso, a phenomenal health and wellness spa, which is revered among return visitors to Cayo Coco. Although almost all of the resorts offer their own in-house beauty treatments and massages, Acuavida stands out among the crowd as the most luxurious spa on the entire island. Whilst it is not connected to any resort, it does include free pick up and drop off, as well as use of its wellness facilities whenever you book in for one of their divine body wraps, facials or complete beauty packages.
