What's the Weather like in Casablanca in August

Temperature

When August arrives in Casablanca it brings with it the warmest weather of the year to this Moroccan city. Average high temperatures of 26°C are enjoyed throughout the month, though it has been known to be a lot hotter. The highest temperature ever recorded in Casablanca in August was experienced back in 2000 when the thermometer climbed to a very hot 39°C. And with the lowest ever recorded temperature in this month still a very pleasant 12°C, there is always plenty of good weather to be had.

On average, low temperatures are not forecast to fall below 20°C at this time of the year, even in the dead of the night. And while this means accommodation without air conditioning may be a little uncomfortable when it's time to sleep, it does ensure the variety of night time activities in the city are there to be enjoyed.

Rainfall

August is also one of the driest months of the year in this large city. Though there can be 1 day of the month when up to 10mm of rain might fall, it is more likely that every day will be clear and dry. And because of the lack of precipitation, humidity is not usually an issue in Casablanca at this time of the year. Instead, the cool wind keeps the air fresh and ensures everyone can remain active.

Average Sunshine Hours

At all times of the day the sun is very strong in August, and adequate protection is a must. There is an average of 8 hours of sunshine every day in Casablanca. And even when the sun is not at its peak, people who are not used to its power must be suitably covered.

Average Sea Temperature

This is especially necessary near the beach where the cool wind can make the sun feel cooler than it actually is. And with sea reaching its highest average temperature of 23°C, most people want to spend at least some time on the beautiful golden sands of Morocco.

Casablanca Hotels in August

Kenzi Sidi Maarouf Hotel

For beautiful service and an even more beautiful environment in Casablanca, make a reservation at Kenzi Sidi Maarouf Hotel. The hotel is situated in its own private area, making it a very peaceful place to stay. But all local amenities are easily accessible via the Casa Tramway which is just 100m away. The rooms are modern and very spacious, yet, even in the peak August month this hotel still offers excellent value for money. With a very friendly bar and restaurant onsite for those that don't want to go out every evening, a room at the Kenzi Sidi Maarouf will soothe all the senses.

Four Seasons Hotel

The Four Seasons Hotel in Casablanca is one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, and therefore one of the most expensive. But if you have the budget, a room in this accommodation is going to offer every sort of decadence you could possibly want. The staff are unbelievably attentive, the décor is nothing short of spectacular, and the amenities set a new standard for quality in Casablanca. The beach is on the doorstep and the main city is just a short ride away. For its combination of luxury, beauty and fabulous facilities, this has to be one of the best places to stay in the entire city.

Hotel Touring

For those that want to base themselves directly in the centre of the city but don't have the budget for a large hotel, the Hotel Touring is a good alternative. Arrive at the hotel and you can haggle with the owner to make sure you get the best possible price, depending on how busy the hotel is. But you will get what you pay for, so consider loosening the budget a little if you want to secure the best rooms. Though the facilities are very basic, the location is superb and the staff are truly accommodating. It's not the picture perfect hotel that some guests dream of, but for a basic place to stay that won't break the bank, Hotel Touring fits the bill.

Beaches in Casablanca for August

Plage Lalla Meriem

Plage Lalla Meriem is situated just off the main beach of Ain Diab, outside of the new Anfa Place mall. For its pristine sand and beautiful surroundings, it is definitely worth a visit. And though it is a little wider than the main strip Ain Diab, its popularity is easily illustrated by how many people want to go there. Activities on the beach include regular football and volleyball matches. While the water is full of swimmers, divers and surfers of all varieties. With a combination of locals and visitors, there may not be too much space in August, but it is still an experience not to be missed.

Tamaris Beach

For surfers who want the best waves at any time of year Tamaris beach is the place to go. This area of Morocco boasts some of the best swells on this part of the coastline, providing a haven for kite surfers, wind surfers, board surfers alike. Don't come to Tamaris hoping to swim, the swells and the currents are too much for most people to handle. But when you want to play in the water or just hang out and watch, Tamaris is the place to be seen.

Bars and Restaurants

Sky 28

For one of the best views in the whole of Casablanca, take a drink or a meal at Sky 28. As the name suggests this elevated bar is actually situated on the roof top of the twin tower offering a fabulous outlook over the entire city. Regular live music offers a fresh ambience while the quality of the food is nearly as good as the sights you will see while you are eating it. Enjoy a cocktail while admiring the view as the sun goes down, or just pop in for a quick drink and a once in a lifetime experience. No one should be able to say that they came to Casablanca and didn't try Sky 28 at least once.

Brooklyn Bar

For a more laid back rooftop experience, try the ever popular Brooklyn bar. With its relaxed and safe atmosphere, that even welcomes women travelling on their own, this little bar is the place to go. Inside the bar, regular live music keeps the atmosphere buzzing with the central area always packed. Upstairs, the views from the roof top aren't going to compete with Sky 28, but then they aren't intended to. Instead you get a chilled out vibe and some really good scenery, all for the price of a nice drink.

La Sqala

For a taste of genuine Moroccan flavour book a table at La Sqala. The set price buffet provides you with the opportunity to sample a range of local dishes, all without blowing the budget. And you can see just how popular this restaurant is, simply by the number of people who eat there. Booking is essential, especially in the peak month of August. But you will be glad you did. Based in the old part of the city, the décor is enticing, the atmosphere is enigmatic. And though alcohol is strictly off the menu, a fabulous night can still be had by all.

Things to do in Casablanca in August

Hassan II Mosque

The Hassan II Mosque is probably the most popular sight to see in Casablanca. Even if you are not a religious person, the size and the presence of this beautiful structure is something that you cannot ignore. And as one of the only mosques that offer entrance to non-Muslims, you can experience every aspect of this incredible monument. For the greatest insight into the mosque and all that it has to offer, join a guided tour. There are many different languages on offer, and for a small fee it is well worth the cost. No one should leave Casablanca without a visit.

Tamaris Aquaparc

As temperatures rise throughout the summer months, you can always cool off at Tamaris Aquaparc. For adults and children alike, the variety of activities and water slides offer a full day of entertainment. And when you want to sit back and relax, there are plenty of sunbeds to hire. The food on site is of a high quality and, though many of the staff do not speak English, there are always smiles all round. In peak season expect to have to queue for the most popular rides. But when the fun of a waterpark is all you want from your day, Tamaris Aquaparc is definitely the place to go.
