Weather lowdown
The height of summer has finally arrived in Calis Beach, and the temperatures and sunshine hours are certainly on the major increase, with crowds, plentiful fun in the sun, and a true holiday vibe in the air. Every single resort in this region will have the same level of fantastic weather, crowds, and different things to see and do, so whilst getting around might be a bit more difficult due to the heat its worthwhile jumping on an air-conditioned bus and getting out and about.
July sees an average temperature of around 27°C, which can rise to an average high of up to 32°C during the hotter times of the day. Do remember to take heed of sun safety advice, as this is the month with the most in the way of sunshine hours, with an average of 14 hours of sun per day, meaning shade could be hard to come by. Make sure you stay hydrated, keep out of the sun during the peak hours of 12-3pm, and wear a hat and sun-cream, especially when out on open water.
Cold evenings are long gone now, with an average low temperature reaching only 21°C, so air conditioning in your hotel is to be advised for a comfortable night's sleep. And in terms of rain, you're basically not going to see any. The average amount of rain which this month experiences is only 1mm, which you probably won't even feel, and that covers 1 day of the month to a smallest, infinite degree. Summer in this part of Turkey is hot and very dry.
To counteract the heat however, the average sea temperature is a wonderful 26°C, so cooling down and feeling refreshed by visiting the beach and splashing around is a fantastic way to spend your time, and a very popular activity for this reason.
Where to stay
The heat is certainly on the up in July, and that means you don't want to pick a hotel which is too far away from the main centre of town. Majesty Club Tuana and Park Hotel is an all-inclusive, five-star resort which offers affordable luxury for families and couples. Everything is within close proximity of the hotel, and there is a spa on-site, large outdoor pool, and a sauna to enjoy.
Rosary Beach is another central choice, which also offers family rooms on a B&B or half board option. This is a family run hotel, which is homely and cosy, with a range of facilities on-site. Rooms have a sea view, for those beautiful sunsets, as well as an on-site restaurant serving a range of international and Turkish dishes.
Aymes Hotel is another fantastic choice, which gives you somewhere charming and quaint to stay. Situated between the two resorts, but still close enough to not have too far to travel, rooms have either a garden or pool view, with a B&B or half board option. Breakfast is served buffet style outside every morning, as well as a large pool, with a separate area for children.
What to do
No summer holiday to Calis Beach would be complete without enjoying a moonlight or sunset cruise. You can find many different options on this, but one of the most popular is the Fethiye to Olu Deniz cruise. During the twilight hours you will be treated to one of the most stunning views of the area, with dinner, drinks, and music to accompany your time on-board. Intersky Turkey offer some fantastic variations on this cruise, and if you are travelling as a couple and want a romantic evening, this is certainly the activity for you.
Kids will love the nearby Sultan Aqua City waterpark, situated at the far end of the beach. Here you can enjoy water-slides, rides, wave pools, general swimming fun, and there are many sun-loungers to simply kick back and relax whilst the little ones run around and tire themselves out. With the higher temperatures which July brings, this is also a great way to cool down in the sometimes intense heat.
Of course, prior to all that tanning you'll be hoping to do on your holiday, it's a good idea to get a traditional Turkish bath. Why? Because this prepares your skin to receive the golden tan you've been dreaming of, and is also a very relaxing experience at the same time. Sultan Hamam & Spa Centre are famous for being one of the oldest baths in the resort, and is used by both tourists and locals alike, which is always a stamp of approval.
Hit the beach
Located between Fethiye and Calis Beach you will find the beautiful and relaxing Aksazlar Bay. This is best reached by dolmus from Fethiye itself, and is a small and quiet beach, which is great for getting away from the crowds at this time of year. You will find many locals use this beach at the weekends, so perhaps go for a week day if you want to total peace and serenity.
Restaurants & nightlife
You will notice restaurants and clubs are busier during July, but there are plenty of establishments to choose from in the resort. Last Stop has a chilled-out, beach café type of vibe, which is friendly and laid-back this is a good option for families, as the menu is large and caters for all tastes.
Ametyist is a fun pub which will certainly put a smile on your face. You'll find bright entertainment, a large menu, and many offers on drinks, which goes a long way to saving you money during your holiday.
A particularly busy night out can be found at Butterfly Restaurant, with entertainment, a great view, and fantastic service. You'll find Moroccan dishes, Turkish cuisine, and everything in-between, so this is a great choice for something a little different.
