Weather lowdown
Visiting this region of Turkey during the quieter months is made much easier by the mild weather the area experiences no matter what the month. Calis Beach experiences an average temperature of around 11°C, which can rise to a very mild 15°C during the warmer parts of the day. Despite this fact, it's very common for the temperature to drop quite sharply towards the end of the afternoon, and February's low can drop to a very chilly 6°C during the darker hours of the evening. Simply remember to pack for all eventualities when you head out, and you should be more than covered.
The main theme as the year progresses slowly towards summer is that rainfall is reduced, and sunlight hours are on the up, and this begins to be noticeable during the second month of the year in particular. You can expect an average of 43mm of precipitation during the month, which can affect around 9 days to some degree or another, but this is less than experienced in January. To counteract this, there are an average of 8 long hours of sunshine to make up for any possible rain, so getting out and exploring is certainly easily done, with plenty to see and do within very close proximity.
One area which is probably best left for the time being is anything related to water-sports or sea swimming overall. The average water temperature sits at a moderate 16°C, which might not sound too cold, but when you're in the water it can be rather chilly to say the least! In fact, this is the coldest sea temperature of the year. Despite this, you will find fishing expeditions quite plentiful at this time, and this is a wonderful way to spend a day out in the mild elements of the final month of the traditional winter season, whilst also experiencing traditional Turkish life during this quieter time of the year.
Where to stay
A hotel or apartment doesn't have to be five-star and glittering to be comfortable and adequate for your stay, and some of the smaller guest houses and hotels in Calis Beach and nearby Fethiye are fantastic bases for your exploration of the area during the quieter month of February.
Vanilla Hotel is one of those hotels, which is set just 100m from the beach, and is the perfect spot for checking out those famous and beautiful sunsets the area is famous for. This is a B&B option, which is set in very attractive gardens, perfect for a drink during a warm afternoon.
Mendos Hotel is another option in the same bracket, which is located right on the beach, and has everything you need close by. The on-site massage service means you can chill right out, with comfortable and spacious rooms to relax in at the end of a long day. Wi-Fi is on hand throughout the building, and the bar is perfect for your evening drink. Alternatively, check out Remer Hotel, which is another B&B guest house, with an outdoor pool still open at this time, perfect for those warmer days, and 50 comfortable rooms on hand for total relaxation.

Calis Beach during these quieter months is built for relaxation. February is the ideal time to get away from it all and enjoy the traditions and culture of this region of Turkey, as well as its immense beauty. You won't find major tourism at this time of year, but you will find plenty to see and do.
Hiring a car will give you a great overview of the natural beauty of the area, and if you are a keen golfer then there is a fantastic golf course just three hours' drive away from Calis Beach itself. This might sound a lot, but in Turkey, these distances are considered minimal! Letoonia Golf Resort is located in beautiful Belek, which is worth an exploration in itself. This golf course shows you the beauty of the area, whilst also testing your metal in the sport. Beginners are equally as welcome too.
Shopping might be on your agenda, and in that case keep that hire car handy and head to Antalya. At just over two hours' drive away, you will meet countless retail therapy options here, including Deepo Outlet Centre, with many bargains to be had.
With Valentine's Day on the agenda, you might be wanting to kick back and totally relax. There are many spa hotels in and around Calis Beach, with treatments and massage services on offer. Check out Hillside Beach Club for quality relaxation with a beautiful view too.
