Weather lowdown
If you're looking for beach time then August is the ideal time to do it, because not only is this a wonderful month in terms of temperature and plenty of activities to enjoy, but it is also the month when the sea is at its warmest all year, sitting at an average water temperature of around 27°C; this is perfect for water-sports, diving, snorkelling, and basically anything water-related.
The average air temperature is equally as warm, sitting at around 28°C, which can reach a very steamy 33°C during the hottest time of the day; it's also not unusual to experience heat waves at this time of year, which means sun safety is very important, especially if you are travelling with children, because the mercury can reach as high as 40°C during these extreme summer heat waves.
Evenings aren't particularly cool either, so again, just like in July, air conditioning in your hotel room is a must. The average low temperature only drops to a warm 22°C, so you certainly won't be needing a jacket during nights out a walk along the beach during the evening is a wonderful way to enjoy these warm summer evenings, and the sunsets around this area are legendary.
As with July, the sun is certainly shining at this time of year, with an average of 13 hours of sunshine per day, and rain is practically non-existent, with only 1mm of precipitation on average throughout the month, which doesn't even register on the scale in terms of how many days it affects.
Basically, if you're looking for a traditional, hot, summer beach holiday then this is the time to visit Calis Beach and the surrounding resorts. If however you don't enjoy heat and high temperatures, then perhaps the beginning and end of the summer season is best suited to you.
Where to stay
August is the hottest month of the year in Calis Beach, and that means you need a hotel or apartment which has a large swimming pool on-site, to allow you to cool down from the sometimes intense heat. Golden Moon offers you exactly that, with fantastic views too. The a la carte restaurant is great for those evenings in the hotel, and the sun terrace is the ideal place to relax and soak up the sun.
If you prefer an apartment base, so you can do your own cooking from time to time, then check out Diana Residence. This is located very close to the beach and the main promenade, and offers a modern base for your stay. The large pool has a dedicated area for children, and there are large gardens to run around in, or simply relax. Everything you need is inside these spacious apartments.
Alternatively, Ozmen Hotel offers B&B or half board accommodation, close to the beach, with plentiful amenities, including Wi-Fi for staying in touch back home. The pool has a section for children, and there is also an on-site playground. This is a great option for those on a budget.
What to do
Calis Beach is known for its sunsets, and it would be a crime to visit and not sit and relax with a drink in hand, checking out the beautiful view before you. The promenade which runs along the length of the beach is a great spot for sitting and chilling out, taking a few photographs as the sun sets seemingly into the sea. This is a great way to spend those warm summer evenings.
Of course, August also means the sea is at its optimum temperature, and you should be taking complete advantage of that fact. A boat trip is a great way to pass the time, and it also gives you a view of some of the hidden bays around the area. You'll find many different companies offering trips which are quite similar, however Sugar's Boat Tours are a great choice. You will be given dinner and drinks on-board, with swim breaks and total rest and relaxation in the sun.
Kids will love Bubble Sea Park too, which is full of shows, entertainment, and basically splashing good fun. This is one for the mid age bracket children, as it is in the open water, and you will find many excursion companies offering tours to this very popular attraction at this time of year.
Hit the beach
Kuleli Beach is a great choice for families, with plenty to keep the little ones occupied. This white sand beach is a good alternative to Calis Beach's pebbly choice, and there are cafes, restaurants, and playgrounds in the area to keep everyone occupied. You can easily reach this bay by dolmus from the resort itself.
Restaurants & nightlife
The heat is certainly on in August, so you won't want to be venturing too far of an evening to find your ideal form of entertainment and to fill your belly. Guven's Restaurant is famed for its seafood dishes, so if you're a fish or shellfish fan then certainly give this a go. Aside from seafood, they do every kind of food you can imagine, with large portions, so nobody will struggle here.
Café Inn is great for those traditional Sunday dinners with all the trimmings, and is a particularly popular place to head on a Sunday for this reason it might be an idea to book ahead to make sure you get a table for your required time.
Alternatively, Enya Restaurant Café Bar is a great stop off for coffee and cake, in a very central position; perhaps stop here on your way back to your hotel after the beach.
