What's the Weather like in Calella in January
The first month of the year is the coldest of the calendar in Calella, however despite that fact, you could argue that the winter temperatures in this beautiful part of Spain are still classed as very mild indeed, when compared to other destinations at this time of year; this is a typical feature of a Mediterranean climate.
Temperature
January experiences an average temperature of around 8°C, which is made warmer by the very generous amount of sunshine hours experienced on average every day; you can expect around 7 hours of sunshine during this New Year month, which gives plentiful opportunities for getting out and about and exploring the region around the resort, as well as city visits to nearby Barcelona, which is a short bus ride away.
Temperatures can reach an average high of around 13°C during the warmer parts of the day, which can feel very pleasant indeed, however do be aware that temperatures also drop quite sharply as late afternoon/early evening arrives, with an average low across the month of around 2°C. Despite this fact, frosts are very rare indeed, and it is simply a case of packing a jacket or coat for your travels, especially if you are out later in the day.
Rainfall
Outdoor pursuits, such as walking and mountain biking, are certainly do-able at this time of year, as the average rainfall level across the month is only around 61mm, which affects 9 days out of the month to some degree or another; this certainly isn't the wettest month, which means mild temperatures, plentiful sun, and dry weather for those venturing to this resort during the tourism off season.
Average Sea Temperature
Despite that fact however, the average sea temperature sits at a chilly 14°C, meaning water-sports and swimming may be best saved until the spring and summer months are in full swing. The good news is that land-based activities are plentiful, so you are unlikely to be bored during this relaxing time of the year.
