While you may not think that Calahonda is the best place to go for high quality Indian food, Little India could soon change your mind. Fresh ingredients and large double doors make this Indian restaurant the place to go for a good curry whether the March weather is tandoori hot or has less warmth than a chicken korma. And if you don't want to stay in the restaurant, opt for the take away to take back to your villa. It's a little slice of home with a touch of spice mixed in.
Things to do in Calahonda in March
While the weather in Calahonda continues to get warmer, there is still plenty of snow left in the nearby skiing resort of Sierra Nevada, making this the perfect opportunity to try out your skills. Many of the local travel agents can arrange a day trip to the resort or an overnight stay for those that want to take more time on the slopes. It is the perfect way to combine sun and ski and get all you can from a trip to the Costa del Sol.
March also sees the start of Semana Santa, or Holy Week in Calahonda. Designed to celebrate the run up to Easter, Semana Santa is characterised by a feast of parades during which the locals carry statues of the Virgin Mary and Christ on the Cross. Music will play, men will wear traditional robes and the streets come alive in anticipation of the festivities to come. This is also a period when the beaches are cleaned and the entire region is made ready for their summer guests. A fantastic time to see Calahonda come to life.
Bring your own bike or hire one from the many cycle shops and enjoy the bicycle routes around Calahonda. The mild May weather ensures it is not too hot to tackle some of those more challenging routes. And, with the quieter roads, it is possible to get almost anywhere on two wheels.
