Calaân Bosch is a modern and fairly new holiday resort located at the extreme south west coast of Menorca, Spain. The weather is typical of the Balearic Islands, with warm springs, hot summers, and distinctly cooler and wetter â" not to mention often windy - autumns and winters.

Calaân Bosch has a man-made marina; the focal point of Calaân Bosch, where mid-sized yachts and other leisure boats usually dock. As afternoon turns to evening, traders usually set up stalls in the town selling local crafts giving the place a lively pleasant bustle.

Most of Menorca is pretty rocky, though Calaân Bosch has two fairly sized sandy beaches with good facilities and selection of sports equipment for hire.  Activities that can be done in Calaân Bosch are water sports, cycling on the coastal road, visiting the old cathedrals and palaces, and of course lazing on the beaches. Overall, Calaân Bosch is a place to rest and relax while enjoying the facilities and nature surrounding the island of Menorca.

Climate

The best of Calaân Boschâs Mediterranean weather is enjoyed during the months of July to August. Temperatures during the summer months can go up to 30ºC during the daytime and reduce to 24ºC at night. Summer time is also when the town is lively with the ever famous Festes de Saint Joan, the biggest festival in Menorca where you can get to see processions, parades, jousting in the streets and also sample Menorcaâs gin-based drink, the Pomada.

September to October are usually considered low season. Weather is typically cool and warm and rainy days increase. Prices are generally lower during this season due to inclement weather.

The typical climate of Calaân Bosch is pleasant warm spring running from March to June where temperatures range from 18ºC to 21ºC, gradually increasing beginning in July. The end of October marks an onset of rainy season and November through March marks the winter period where strong winds are experienced and the towns registered population drops to 107 people.

January to July

The Balearic Sea blows breezy wind towards its surrounding islands making summer a perfect time to visit Calaân Bosch. Temperatures during the daytime at the start of January are in the range of 14ºC and night time temperatures drop to 8ºC. During the start of the month, humidity is about 79%. Precipitation on a monthly average is 46mm, with at least 13 days of rainfall and an average of 1 day of snow fall.

Sunshine during the month of January is at least 7 hours per day and foggy conditions are expected to be for at least 2 days. The weather doesnât vary much between January to March. However, in April, temperatures tend to slightly increase to 17ºC during the day and 10ºC at night. Humidity levels have been recorded to show a drop at 74%. Rainy days are still prevalent during this time with an expected 11 rainy days and precipitation levels of 48mm. The days receive longer hours of sunlight with a recorded 10 hours on an average basis. Water sports and swimming normally becomes more frequent during this time as water temperatures become warmer. Temperatures at sea are around 16ºC, as some visitors prefer cooler waters.

In June, daytime temperatures increase even more, signaling the start of summer. During the months of June to July, temperatures begin at an average of 25ºC to 29ºC during the day and night time temperatures go down to 17ºC to 21ºC respectively for June and July.

Humidity levels between these two months also gradually drop from 70% to 68%. June has a recorded level of 5 days on average of rainy days whereas July has an average of 3 days. Sunny hours increase to 13 hours per day on average for both months, so this is the time Calaân Bosch receives a higher tourist turn out.

Temperatures of the water have been recorded on an average of 22ºC to 24ºC. Water is generally warm to hot on certain days.

August to December

August is one of the hottest months in Calaân Bosch. Temperatures have reached on an average of 32ºC during the day and 21ºC at night. The highest temperature ever recorded for the month of August has been 37ºC. Humidity levels for August are about 70% with the average precipitation at 12mm. Rain fall occurs about 4 days in a month. Sunshine hours are also 13 on an average. No foggy conditions have been recorded for August.

Water temperatures for August have been recorded at 26ºC at its coastal beaches. After a hot month, temperatures start cooling down mid September to 23ºC. Average precipitation in August to October increases from about 66mm to 85mm with sunshine hours dwindling down from 13 hours to 8 hours per day.

In November, daytime temperatures have been recorded at an average 18ºC whereas at night it is at an average of 12ºC. The lowest night time temperature that has been recorded has been at 4ºC.

Rainy days are more frequent during this time as well with at least 13 days of rain in a month, and the amount of precipitation averaging at 88mm. Foggy conditions increase but keep a low average of 1 day in the month. Water temperatures at the beaches are cooled down with day time temperature at 20ºC. December experiences similar weather conditions as November and at times, the sunny days will last only up to 6 hours.
