What's the Weather like in Cala d'Or in December
Located in southeastern Majorca, the largest of Spain's Balearic Islands, right on the east coast, Cala d'Or boasts a prime location overlooking the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It is a sun worshipper's dream, even during the winter months as the Mediterranean climate ensures a much warmer, drier and sunnier festive season than the UK.
Temperature
Temperatures drop a little in December in keeping with the cooler winters of the Mediterranean. The average day temperature is 10°C this time of year, which makes it the second coolest month of the year in the resort, together with Februarya href="http://www.holiday-weather.com/cala_d_or/averages/january" style="line-height:1.6em;">January is one degree colder. However, with temperatures ranging between an average of 5°C at night and 15°C during the day, don't expect to see any snow in Cala d'Or. Both those average low and high temperatures drop a tiny bit in the course of the month, both by two degrees.
Average Sea Temperature
The sea temperature averages 16°C now, much too chilly for swimming. The pleasant afternoon temperatures, though, make for excellent weather to go for a seafront walk.
Rainfall
Rainfall drops this month to 58mm on averageignificantly less than the annual maximum of 95mm that was recorded in November. That being said; with 15 days of rainfall, December is the third wettest month of the whole year in Cala D'Or. It is still "rainy season" in the resort Cala d'Or, but precipitation is definitely starting to ease up from the previous months. The chance that rainfall occurs ranges around 37% and doesn't vary that much throughout the month. Moderate rain is by far the most common type of precipitation, being recorded on 47% of the days with rainfall. Drizzle, light rain and thunderstorms happen as well, respectively on 19%, 14% and 16% of those rainy days.
Average Sunshine Hours
December, as the shortest month of the year in terms of daylight, is also the least sunny month. Now, there are "only" 5 hours of sunshine per day on averagehe same average as in November and in January. 5 sunshine hours, however, is much more than what many other destinations in Europe have at this time of year. It is fair to say that Cala d'Or makes for an excellent place to spend a winter holiday.
