Cairo remains extremely hot in September, with a high volume of tourists present.
The average temperature now reaches a high of 33°C (that's about 91°F) during the day and dips to a low of around 20°C (about 68°F) at night.
You can expect no rain during this month and there are around 12 hours of average daily sunshine.
When you are out and about it is easy to become overwhelmed by the heat. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid sunburn by wearing sunscreen with a high SPF.
Find out when the hottest part of the day is by checking the local weather forecast and seeking shelter from the sun.
Outside the city you can visit the Giza Necropolis, which includes the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Great Sphinx.
The Great Pyramid was completed in 2560BC and consists of an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks which took 20 years to build.
The Sphinx dates from around the same time and is one of the largest monolithic statues in the world, measuring 20.22 m (66.34 ft) high, 6 metres (20 ft) wide and 73.5 metres (241 ft) long.
The Experimental Theatre Festival also takes place this month, with many performances in a range of venues across the city.
